Hi, can anyone tell me if the Vibe 50 Canopy will fit on a TRex 600N. I really like the looks of the Vibe 50. Thanks.

Regards,
Rick

ZAC ATTACK & Zaneman007,

I freely admit that I'm a Vibe 50 wannabe I certainly hope to be flying the Ferrari of Nitro 50s someday.

gorgin4325,

The lower part of the canopy is mounted with the stock Align canopy clip with the Vibe canopy screwed on top of it instead of in the slot. The rear is mounted with some scrap G10 extensions mounted by the servo mount screws/ holes near the stock Align mounts. The rear is screwed into standoffs on the extensions.

Rick

Thanks Rick,

I just drilled 2 small holes in the canopy and got a little crack on the canopy. I'm afraid to put the align canopy mount now because I'm sure the crack will get bigger everytime I take the canopy off... Gotta think of another way to make the lower part of the canopy stronger...

Thanks,
G

I drilled the holes where the fiberglass tape reinforcement is in the middle. If the canopy is cracking in that area, I would reinforce the area with some more fiberglass cloth tape and epoxy. Also use some washers under the heads of the screws to spread the force. I also didn't tighten the screws fully tight to allow some room for movement/ flex while taking the canopy on and off.

Rick

Nice little mod dude! It actually looks pretty good on it... Nice to have a little switch up. I wish they would redesign the 600 canopy so it is just a bit more pointed, then I believe it would be sweet. JR generally on their machines from my experience has always had the best looking canopies.

As for the quality, of course it's a good kit, it's a JR. But is it going to help you fly any better? Nope! LOL I can't understand the flack some give the rex. But then again maybe it's just me. I have been into hobbies for a long time. And not calling anyone out, but one person that commented has his rex in the picture gallery and the swashplate is on wrong(the align symbol is supposed to go towards the rear on that version of the kit, and also, the push pulls aren't setup at all on the controls). Just some observations, but I have had JR kits in the past and have loved them. But I love the rex's now also(and if you know what your doing, I am sure they fly just as well. All of mine track greaat, hover extremely smoothly and flip wonderfully. But that goes back to how you build em and set them up). I have actually been told that mine fly like a larger machine. I haven't had a problem with either, with the exception of small things(simply had to replace the stock starter adapter on the previous JR machines with the KSJ and the one way lockup on my first rex but after discovering triflow, haven't had an issue since on the other 3 that I have).

Both great kits and from what I looked at in the manual of the viber, there are of course some similarities and differences. Most machines these days are culmination of years of developing these things and everyone copies everyone it seems. So apples to oranges IMHO.

But your canopy looks nice on the 600N!

Every time I fly I loose more hair! LOL

HelividD,

Thanks for the comments. I agree with you. My TRex is one of the best helis I have flown; but as you say, it could just be that my setup suits me. It tracks great, hovers and autos much better than my MA Fury, and flips fine for me. I have been flying helis since 1981, but I am not a hard 3D flyer. It is hard to believe the Vibe 50 could fly so much better, but that is part of the reason I would like to try one. But mainly, I love the look of the Vibe canopy.

Rick

I started the hobby exactly 3 1/2 months ago with a Trex 600 NSP, and I just finished the break in procedure on my new Vibe 50. I have not done any 3D with the vibe yet, but I really like to compare the two. I hope to set it up by this weekend and fly it the way I fly my Trex so that I can compare them.

Mechanically: I dont see any major differences
Quality: to me it seems that the Vibe has much better quality
Looks: I like the Vibe canopy better, but I really like the Trex's battery and electronics tray
Built: I REALLY enjoyed the Vibe. It might also be because I was not as confused as 4 months ago when I built my first heli and I had no idea what I was doing. So maybe other people can comment on the build.

I will write my views after I setup the Vibe.

I'm getting some wear on the canopy at the bottom where it is attached to the Align canopy clip so I recommend drilling out the holes on the bottom for grommets to isolate the canopy from the vibration. Also, I added some 5mm thick spacers to move the upper front rubber canopy standoffs outward to contact the canopy for support.

Rick

Thanks for the tip.

I just ordered some fiberglass sheets and epoxy and the align canopy mount... hopefully in a few days I'll start the project.

Rick,

I had a chance to fly the Vibe 50 over the last few days. I've been taking both helis to the field. They have almost identical setups. I really like the vibe. One thing that is obvious is that it feels MUCH lighter in the air even tho it is a much heavier heli I think. It climbs up much faster than my 600NSP. It feels very stable and I've had a friend fly it very hard 3D and it seems to handle everything almost like a 90.

I'm still getting used to it. The 8717s are a little too fast for me I'm used to 9452s and I must be a little more gentle with the sticks.

I really like the looks of the heli both in the air, and the layout and frame...

I will still do mst of my practicing on the 600 because of the parts availability here in Dubai.

Overall I really like it, and I really dont mind getting one more and switching everything from my 600 over...

So far, I did one gallon to break in the engine, and i've done one gallon flying it.

Thanks,
G

G,

Sounds like another positive review! How does it hover versus the TRex? Does it "sit" well or better than the TRex? Sounds like you're having fun with it.

Rick
