Align T-REX 600N 700N > T-REX 600N I am officially a t-rex 600 owner!!! Servo Questions

I finally bought a T-Rex 600 and have a few questions. The machine came equipped with Hitec HS5625MG Servo on the tail, HS625MG on the cyclics and a Futaba 3003 on the throttle. I have always been a JR guy. What are your thoughts on these servos? I plan on using a Futaba 401 gyro. Will that tail servo work with this gyro? Currently, I am flying a t-rex 450SE V2 and just getting into forward flight. No wild 3D.....yet!

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

My opinion.... You're gonna want some digitals for the cyclic, and a better tail servo.

You think your kids are expensive now?

Just wait until they move out!!

a 9253 or 9254 should help out alot on the tail, that hitec aint really what you are looking for, a good set of jr 8311's or 8717's (kinda pricey but awesome) will last a long time and provide enough speed and power to follow you through all of your progressions in flight

dude..wheres my heli?????ama#902014

the 8717's will also withstand crashes very well. if you can I recomend the 8900g for the tail it is awsome.

Don't go cheap on this. You have already spent a lot of money on your set-up. I am sure you have this hobby is not cheap. So why skimp now. You are going to put a $1300 bird up in the air and skimp on 1 little thing that will send it crashing to the ground. Just suck it up like we all do and save a few extra gold bars and buy the good stuff. In the end you won't regret it.

Sorry got carried away forgot to offer ideas. I use GY611 and 9256 on my 600's. Yes it is expensive but it is great equipment and there are many posts that assist in setting it up. You can go for spartans or the logitechs but the spartans are ghosts. I'd much rather have a GY611 over a spartan any day. Just my opinion. Readyheli sells them for 330. Most places sell them for 350-370. When I saw it for 330 I was sold on it.

the 611 is an out dateded over priced gyro. the solid g is a great gyro for only $180 and for $150 you can get a jr770 wich is a heck of a lot better than the 401 for the same price. also the spartin is a great gyro.

chopper_crazy,

you could probably find a nice set of used futaba s9451's for your cyclic here in the classifieds. if you're going to stick with the gy401, which will be just fine for your flying style, then pick up a s9253 or s9254. you could even go s9252's for your cyclic and throttle as well.

He's just getting into forward flight. The 401 will be absolutely fine and take you very far. There is no reason to "have" to buy a better gyro, unless you just want to.

Are the 811's and 821 servos any good for this bird?

Tech Notes
The DS821 servo is a powerful, accurate sport digital servo recommended for RC airplane applications up to 1.20-size. For helicopters, the DS821 operates best with 30-size glow models, and up to 50-size electric. Loads and vibration in larger models may cause premature failure of the servo resulting in damage or injury to property and persons

Helical your comments are rude. You don't have to be so ignorant in your replies. I have my opinions and you have yours. Doesn't mean you have to be ignorant and try to crush someone elses opinions. That is my opinion and it is FARRRRR FROM RIDICULOUS!

lefty - from your posts it sounded like you were implying that the 401 (the gyro that he planned to use) would send his heli "crashing to the ground". I gathered this since you were recommending the 611. If this is not what you meant then I appologize. If you did mean this then I stand by my statement of "that's just ridiculous", IMO.

Thank you for all the input. I decided to strip the Hitec servos and run Futaba S9252 all the way around and put a 770/8900 on the tail. Thanks again.

I have been running this servo on my cyclic...and very happy at $49.99
they are re-branded Hitec HS-5625MG, but at a lower cost !
