Yesterday I test flew my Century Hawk Pro w/OS37. It's one of my low stress helis. Put about 3/4 of a gallon through it and I have to say, for the pile of crap steel stampings and a handful of molded plastic, it actually flies well beyond anything I expected. It actually flies very well! Anyway, I spent today with the Audacity Tiger. I checked the main rotor balance and managed to get the smoothness to the point where even in the main tank to fuel just sits there. I am still blown away how there is no wear showing on the gears yet. I was happy to find that the thrust bearings were still well greased. I serviced the head and changed a couple pushrod lengths. I moved the CG forward a smidge and played with the throttle curves to yield a fun evening and polished off gallon #19. I hope you all had good weather and managed to get out for a while.

I was hoping to get out every weekend most of this month. Unfortunately I broke my arm and it's casted at the elbow, and not at a good angle for holding a transmitter.

Maybe September will be a better month.

Glad you're getting some flights in.

Cheers, Shayne

I stocked up on fuel when everyone said I was wrong and that there was no fuel shortage. I have 10 gallons left. I am opening gallon #20 for the year tomorrow morning if it doesn't rain. Even my local hobby shop where I buy my fuel told me I was wrong and that there was no shortage. They dont have fuel now and have no idea when they might see some again. I would have liked to have been proven wrong as this is one time being right may not end up being a good thing in the long run. In the meantime, I have enough to play for a while.

Shayne, what the heck? Couldn't that have waited until the weather closed in on you guys again? You HAD to break your arm during your two weeks of Summer weather?! Seriously, I'm sorry to hear about the broken arm. Your lifestyle doesnt lend itself well to letting that arm rest much does it.

I stocked up on fuel beforehand. Have about 14 gallons left.

Phil, sorry that work is getting in the way of flying models. Our heli-base will probably pack up today. I think there were only a few machines left as of yesterday. Only saw (or heard) one 212 take off all day. Things are slowing down a bit here firefighting-wise.

Marty, yeah it sucks. Was doing CPR on a drowning victim in the back of an ambulance, and the driver was goingn a little too fast for a corner. Drifted and hit the ditch a bit and bounced me into the wall. Came out of it with two broken bones and dislocated elbow. I'm on forced rest for awhile and may not be going back.

Cheers, Shayne

....but I should have added that I am soooo jealous of your lifestyle! Hey, in regards to CPR, when did they stop doing rescue breaths+ I just updated my CPR/First Aid/AED training about a year ago and the AHA was still teaching breaths. No I read it's chest compressions only with the theory it's better to try to keep moving already oxygenated blood than trying to force a couple % of O2 into them from the breaths. On the flying, I guess you can play with the simulator some. I hate the sim though. I'd rather burn fuel and risk crashes. Oh, wait, thats what I do. I'm sure my learning is slower but I wanna fly my machines.

Nice to see all of you flying again.
as a CPR/First Aid/AED trainer things are always in flux. Use the training you have and you could save a life.
The last crash I had with the Pantera my training was nill. I pulled the fuel line and let her chicken dance.
HERC. Nice to see you on line again. Hope all is going well with you and your sweetie.

I've made it to the middle of gallon 20 today. The weather went to pot right after I bragged about how great it is around here. It's cool and very windy now and expected to remain so for a couple days. We have a new hobbyshop in the area, maybe I'll go check it out.

We've been cold and windy too Marty. Had snow in the mountains night before last. Another few weeks and we'll be below 0C at night. Bill and I have to get our radio-mitts dusted off.
