Align T-REX 600N 700N > T-REX 600N Nearly Lost My 600 Nitro Pro Today

Out flying today my almost new 600 Nitro Pro.

Still quite new ( well compared to some of you guys ) but managed a few nice circuits, rolls, flips and loops etc.

Just as I am at the top of a loop, I heard the heli splutter for a second, and then go back to full power. Brought it down nearer me, and noticed that the header tank was empty, but that the main tank still had half a tank ! Though this cannot be right, and almost at the same second I thought It, puff, engine stalls on me

Lets just say that I managed my first auto remarkably well considering the shock I was going through

Took the bird back to the pits, to notice that the fuel pipe had become disconnected inside of the tank

Is this common, and what do you guys suggest ?

Thanks
Darren

Yes it is common, especially if you use the stock clunk line. I just use regular medium fuel tube, and have never had any issues. I change mine about every five to six months.

I make a clamp out of a small piece of fuel tube, then slip it over the line.

Cut a 8-10mm piece of fuel line, slip it over the fuel line and over the nipple. Makes for a more secure hold.

The stock one will not last long. I, also, use a regular fuel tubing.

I will be stripping the tank out tomorrow and replacing the fuel line inside, and adding the additional small length as a guarantee

very common. Stock and thin walled tubing will deteriorate in about 6 to 10 months (depends on the amount of time the nitro is effecting the fuel line.)

I use stock aerotrend medium blue.

If you have a header tank, being too long might be an issue but too short will not. If the line came off the nipple, this is not too common. More likly the tubing has broken down by the 30% nitro.
The exception mihgt be Hayes black fuel tubing as it tends to expand slightly after the fuel works on it for a day. The extra tubing pieces and any clamps you might add are not a very good idea as it only add an additional point of failure, Something else to go wrong.
I have never had the tubing come off the nipple (30 years and 5 plus helicopters)

Anyway if you have a header the fuel line could be short and have no effect, too long might get caught up in a corner but even so, the header will supply fuel for a long while long enough for the main clunk to get back in fuel again.

Hi Guys,

Well I have just stripped the tank down and am a little suprised by what I have found. ( I also watched the Finless video of the tank fitting before doing anything )

The fuel line in the main tank had come completely of the internal nipple. On closer inspection, the thin walled tube used ( from the kit ) had completely split open at the pointv where it joins the nipple. The tube in general felt as though it had perished, and actually slit once again when I pulled it slightly ( why does Align include this crap ? )

I have now replaced the thin wall pipe with a another piece of quality pipe, and also added 5mm of additional tube pieces to both ends ( on the nipple and clunk - lets see that mother come loose )

Thanks for all your help.
Darren.

P.S. Simmer - Yes mate, I am using a Quick header tank as well.

Also check the mould line on the nipple, it can be raised and starts to cut the tube!

I always gently sand it down so that it is even all the way round.

Thanks snapshot.

I did have a good look over the whole thing for sharp edges, and everything looked ok.

And If It does split again, At least I know now that I can Auto if I need to
