So I hear some rumor that there has been some reports of the 8717 burning out or failing with 2c lipo direct. Anyone have any experience in this or could shed some light. I'm thinking of doing away with the 2c lipo and running a 6v 4300mah NiMH pack direct.

Haven't heard it either. I've been running 8717's on 8V in three different heli's for several hundred flights and not one voltage related issue.
