The stock kit is 120 eCCPM. I doubt they'll ever go 140.

Quotes may have been changed for my own amusement

For 3D 120 is best.

Why is that ? I thought 135/140ccpm takes away interactions. Why would 120ccpm be better

I have always run 120 for 3D and don't have any interactions. 140 is a must when it comes to FAI/F3C type manuvers where every little movement counts.

For 3D a 120 setup is more desireable since precision isn't an issue.

Just look at the most popular 3D machines, all of which are 120 degree swashes. Also, all of the "top" 3D pilots are running 120, not 140.

I have to disagree too, I had two identical machines, one 120 and one 140, even for smack down 3D I prefered the 140 degree machine until I got my 12FG.

a perfectly setup 120 degree (12FG, 12Z, 14MZ radio is a must) can be equally good & interaction free, just easier with 140 degree.

Todays servo's help too, the stronger/more centered/faster the better for 120 degree.

Edit: Forgot that new 12X has ccpm interaction mixing too, so that will work.

There are plenty of us running DX7's with no interaction issues on 120.

One thing that has always boggled my mind is that if pro pilots are running 120 and designing 120 3D machines why the big debate about which is better?

I went from a 14MZ to DX7 -> X9303 -> 12FG.
It is a difference, you might not notice, but once you tried a really good setup, you will know.

However, that said, Flying some of the newer machines like Aurora and others, they use very low travel (rely on strong servos), by that trick they dont rely on the radio as much (interaction increases with servo-travel needed)

So essentially what your saying is that you don't need 120.

There is no doubt that there is an ever so slight difference but your average pilot would never know or feel it.

Im saying everything is a tradeoff, for many it might be better with 140,
Ive seen numerous helis sold because "it dont fly good" while in reality if JR had just explained the little "EXP=INH/ACT" in the swash mix menu their heli would have flow very nicely. (JR should make EXP should be ACT default when you select 120 degree swash)

I understand what your saying but my point is that for 3D, 140 is no better than 120 and hence not needed.

140 is overrated and gimmicky IMO. Its assumed that it eliminates elevator interaction because the balls are same for-to-aft distance from shaft. Thats all good and all as far as servo travel goes but now you've got twice the force at one end of the swash as opposed to the other so in flight once the servos are actually loaded there will be elevator interaction. 120 definitely makes more sense for 3D piro-maneuvers and hard 3D where you want equal swash speed and movement in a circular motion.

flame suit on
