Well it came today from Japan and I installed it in a matter of minutes.... Total cost including Parcel Post was $10.50 - delivered in only 5 days via Parcel Post!

Much more pleasing to the eye with it's yellow backlight and clearer display! The picture shown below was taken without a flash under a halogen desklamp at 1/4 second and hand held!

Because the “High-Tech Blue” screens although looking more modern have a narrower viewing angle and the contrast on the yellow (brown... yes It’s brown NipponDave! ) screens is much better.

hpilotrc What are you doing with a DUO with a yellow screen?!

Cam,

My original plastic framed T-Rex was gone as soon as the upgraded frame sets came out. Would you like to buy some spare plastic parts

Any idea when the next Firmware release will be out for the Duo?

Power Supply?

Anyone know where I can buy a Power Force 40amp power supply for the Hyperion Duo Charger? I have tried Hobby-Lobby and Esprit model but they are backordered. Any where else or another brand maybe?

Power supply for the Duo.....

I would recommend a Astron SS-30 or SS-30M (with meters). They are designed for amateur radios and can supply 30 Amps continuous. They are both light computer type switching supplies.

Duo FW 1.7 update and yellow LCD!

My Duo was upgraded to firmware v1.7 within a matter of minutes and it has some nice additions!

Hyperion even fixed the funny "Ohms" symbol that showed up on the new yellow backlit LCD Display! I was suprised how fast they responded to that!

I’ve been testing the new 1.7 firmware. There’s an extra data screen now that shows the mAh charged-in, the PSU input voltage, pack voltage, charge current and % charged all on the one screen.

You can now scroll “UP” into all the data menus instead of pressing “DOWN” half-a-dozen times to get to something at the end of the list (Like the TCS settings).

There’s also TSC END ACTION which you can set to either STOP or CONTINUE. Depending on whether you want the charger to stop at your end % value (if you want to avoid the slow CV stage at the end of the charge) or continue charging. The 1.7 firmware will also keep balancing the pack after the charge has ended and displays END/BLC.

The charger now boots onto port one and the PSU and power sharing options are on port 1.

Ohm symbol fixed for yellow LCD’s, countdown timer for automatic starts (saves a button push if you're sure your settings are correct) and + or - for current flow.

More for the Duo.......

Cam,

Now all we need is a separate CC and CV indicator in that screen that shows all!

For constant voltage: Blinking C and then V for the battery voltage.

For constant current: Blinking C and then A for the charging current.

Or....

For constant voltage the A blinks and for constant current the V blinks to inform us that one of the parameters is changing, while the other ramains constant.

Cam,

I would think then that the new Duo 2 will be using a different processor with more onboard memory?

Does this mean that we can't expect any more firmware upgrades on the Duo? That would not be good!

If you wanted updated you can bring it to a local hobby shop who sells the chargers.....or

send it to me and I will do it as long as you pay shipping both ways!

It would probably be cheaper for you just to go out and buy the interface!
