I'm reading many posts os friends who installed the gyro in front od Trex 600N.

Where is the best place to install? In back place like raptor or in front?

Positive and negative points in itch type of instalation?

I don't think there is any difference front to rear. If the distance from the main shaft changes, that's going to change your gain settings a bit. It's all about space and wiring....

I disagree for the 600N.

I believe it is best on the back because of EMI issues. Mounting above the 2 front servos isn't the best place for a clean signal.

Plus I like the fact that there's less wires to mess with.

You have to mount the gyro on the front of the 700N, and there's so much left over wiring it's crazy.

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I SEE INSTALLING IT IN BACK IS WHEN YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE TAIL BOOM BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE OFF THE GYRO TOO

you have to test it and see if you get interference in the front. some servos i have seen cause interference and some do not. i would just check the front and if you get interference put it in the back. i do agree with cyberfox, when you need remove the boom, you have to take off the gyro. in the front you never have to touch it, and it is under the canopy where the fuel can not get to it.

Rockohaulic is correct with his statement , I put my Dad's 401 above the 2 servos and the noise emitted from the 8311's caused the 401 to go goofy , so it's getting moved out back .

I have mine mounted up front above two 9252s on the gyro plate without issue (knock on wood).

hi

I have the 600N gyro mount plate.. No interferrence with my Spartan.. Its the best place for a gyro IMHO.

If you dont have the plate and have to mount it right on top of the servos then there would be issues.

I have mine on a mount plate on top of front servos and have 86 flights without problems. The other advantage of putting it in front is that is more protected from fuel which is not the case in the back, mostly if you have something like the 401 which is not completely sealed.

I wish I could fly 24/7

I took the front gyro plate and modifyed it to fit over the rear tail case. If you shave the sides and flip it upside down, then you
can mount the gyro on top. This allows you to remove the tail boom and case without removing the gyro. The package comes with everything that you need. You might also have to shave a little off of one side to compensate fror the servo case. I have done this to both of mine and haven't had a problem yet.

And for the problem of fuel getting on and in the 401 case, I used a piece of clear mailing tape to seal the adjustment holes on top of the case. After it is set, you shouldn't have to adjust with the switches again.

I will post pics of the mounts soon.

I had the gyro at the back and had to change the mounting tape/pad after a couple of gallons because of fuel getting all over it. Then I got the gyro mount and now have the mount over my DS8717's. Now after nearly 4 gallons the gyro tape is as good as new

I put mine on top of the tail case. I know this is a no no with 450's. As there is nothing to protect them from a blade strike. But on the 600 the frame has just enough of an angle to protect them if you slide it up far enough. It looks clean up there and is easy to access.

Hi Try turning your reciever mount upside down and mounting the Gyro on the top flat surface. Works great with my CSM 560. Regards Stu.

I actually had the mounting plate in front, would up moving mine back to where the boom mount is because I was getting some sort of interferience off the two servo's. Thing I don't like about having it in the back is no way to put velcro strap to act as secondary security

It doesn't matter how far you mount the gyro from the mainshaft. You could mount it on a 2X4 a mile away and it won't change the gain settings. Rotation is rotation and that is all the gyro measures. Rotation is the same on any part of the heli.
