Hey guys

I know I'am not the only one with that problem but if there is anyone with this setup and has no problem with it let me please know.

I've tried everthing but still got drifting problems to the right.Also when I do 3D even without extreme wind my tail is hunting alot.Its realy driving me crazy.
In the manuel they say(ONLY WORKS WITH JR EQUIPMENT).I'am starting to believe this.

Thanks

How are you setting it up in the radio?

Rudder end points, dual rate, expo, and how are you setting the gain?

It will work with a futaba radio.

Hello

My settings are.

ATV rudder = 140
ATV gain channel = 140
Gain gyro menu = 11%
EXPO = 50%
DR = 35%

It stops verry good but thats all.

Turn the gain atv's back to 100/100 thats going to throw your gain numbers out of whack.

Then turn the gain all the way up and see if it drifts in heading hold mode. Sub trim the rudder till it stays put, you will have to keep bumping it to center. Do this on the bench, not in flight.

Then set the gain to AVC 40 and the D/R to around 60 and give it a test flight.

Hello BarracudaHockey

The first thing I've tried was with a gain channel of 100.The only thing that changed was that mine gain in heading hold menu was around 20%.It gave me the same problem as before.

More than 20% in idle 2 gives me serious hunting.I realy had scary moments with this gyro.

I have some play in the tail but not that much.It had it when it was new also,could that be the problem maybe.

Here's the deal with the gain channel.

If you have the numbers at anything other than 100/100 then the gain displayed on the gyro screen will be incorrect.

If you open up the end points, and turn the gain up on the gyro screen, the end result at the gyro is the same, the only thing different will be the number in the display. It doesn't take much gain in that thing, that much is true.

Play in the tail parts isn't going to help matters thats for sure.

How far out on the servo arm is your linkage? I think 13mm or so is about right, if your much above that try moving in one hole and upping the limit pot on the gyro, you might have that too compressed and the gyro isnt getting full resolution.

The horn length on the 8900 with a 770 on the 600N is 11mm. The best way to set up the tail servo is with out the gyro, plug the servo directly into the RX and make the mechanical adjustments for neutral rudder, than plug it into the gyro. The STD setting for the gyro in Futaba seems to work better for me, I am in the upper 50s on my 600N. DR is 85% and expo at 50%, end points are 140 for rudder and 100 for the Gear(Gyro) channel, my gyro gain is set to my flight mode switch "E" for differant gain for each head speed, 1750, 1900, and 2100.

Hey bigdog714

Did you have similair problems with the gyro menu in your FF9 before you changed to mode STD?
I have my gyro on the gyro plate in front could that maybe cause a problem also.

I will try some adjustment in the weekend,and let you know.

Thanks guys

It was alittle twitchy in GY, make sure that the linkage is smooth, no binding, the 8900 isnt very strong. I use Airtronics 94758Z, 115oz at .06 speed, I get some greef from the guys at the feild for using such a strong servo, but I haven't had any tail issues, and I have seen the 8900s burn out.

Y'all do realize that the only difference between STD and GY mode is the way the information is displayed to the user?

GY, STD, and end points all do the same thing, they adjust the pulse width on the gain channel, thats it.

Yes, but sometimes things don't work out the way thier designed, the 770 with my 9CH Super with a Spektrum module was easier to control in STD than GY, and the JR G500T was better in GY than STD, can't explain it???

Its like mounting a Gyro, logic sais that you can mount it however you like, it works no matter the aspect, but there are some gyros, like the Telebee, that have to be mounted a specific way in order to work, it shouldn't make a differance but it does???
