finaly my first nitro this is great! I was just putting it together and I tightened the bolt that goes thru the head block and main shaft and the head block would wiggle back and forth on the main shaft. I tightened it a little more and the bolt stripped what is wrong?

You didn't put the head on the wrong end of the shaft did you? The shaft has a larger diameter hole on one end, which is for the gear assembly. The end with the smaller diameter hole is for the head.

Did the headblock fit around the shaft snug or does it wobble around. Im not quite sure what kind of play you are referring to but there should be none. I can see the headblock moving up and down maybe slightly if the screw is not tightened but only slightly if at all. If the headblock is wobbling around on the shaft sounds like you have the wrong shaft or wrong head.

Snap a pic of you can.

if you grab the grips and twist the head sidways you can very clearly see the two metal bars moving sidways in the washout base.

hopefully you understand it is hard to explain and a picture I dont think would help much.

Replace the locknut that JR includes for the Jesus bolt with a thicker locknut. My locknut stripped on mine - they are quite thin locknuts. They work great in the rest of the heli but on that bolt you want it tight enough to clamp the headblock and at least on mine that locknut gave way. Once I put a thicker locknut on that had a few more threads I was able to tighten the whole thing up and get rid of the play.

lock nut

same thing happend to me
change out the lock nut for one with more threads and you can tighten it down to stop the play in the head

A couple of people have reported head blocks that were loose, even with the Jesus bolt tight.

Might want to call JR/Horizon.

I looked at it and just as you said the bolt was not stripped just the nut, I will try a nut with more threads.

now this is my first nitro and I am using a hyper. I was wondering how many turns out you put the needle valve for break in and how many you put it out for normal use. from the manual that came with it I you put it 3 turns out for break in and 1.5 for normal use but I thought I would check with you guys. also any tips for this engine would be greatly appreciated.

For your Hyper, 1.5 turn to start with is enough unless it is very cold outside. Usually, mine is running fine at 1.25 turn and too rich at 1.5

Try this and you will always play between 1 and 1.5 because at 3 turns the fuel is gone run trough the muffler and you will have engine lock at startup.

Best luck

I understand it is not good for the enging to run to lean, not enough lubrication and such. so how do you tell if you have it to lean??

Its too lean if:
1) Theres very little smoke
2) The engine gets very hot
3) The sound of the engine is higher in pitch (this is relative, but if you go rich then lean you will hear the difference).
