Hey guys

Any chance you can clarify for me the elec operation of the BLS 451?? I just bought a whole new set for my TREX 600N S.P and see the fine print says Ni-Cd only! I still wanna keep my original align 2in1, as well as the align li-po batt as well. Any of you lads using the same system or you converted over to Ni-Cd??

It doesn't matter whether you use LiPo or NiCd, but personally I wouldn't run these servos higher than at 6V. The bls 451 is a great servo

Thats an outdated warning from the days when NiMH batteries had high internal resistance and the voltage would drop off under the current load of digital servos.

They didn't even have lithium power systems when they wrote that warning.

cool stuff...thanks guys. Are these servo's any good? I see the response times at 6V are awesome but do they deliver?? I was looking for quick servo's...wanna transform my bird into a wild animal

futaba service say you can run these at 7.0v regulated which is the same as a fully charged 6.0v nicad.

i have some 351 and a 251 and they are excellent. by far the most accurate servo i have flown.

thanks guys....I really look forward to thrashing & bashing my Heli around. Or if my wife finds out I just bought more servos,...maybe I'll be the one to get the bashing!

You'll notice that your radio and receiver manuals also say NiCd only. Of course these days the number of people actually using NiCd is dwindling. The warning is there because Futaba (and others) don't want to accept responsibility for any other type of power system. It doesn't mean that it won't work. Just like it doesn't mean that a 6.0V regulated power system won't work on 4.8V rated servos... it will work, and work fine.
