Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > Want to start rolling heli

Hello,
I've been flying my father's hawk pro for a while now and would like to start some advanced sport flying. I am comfortable with flying in all upright orientations. I was wondering what the easiest way to roll/flip the heli is. Thanks for your help. Oh and by the way I have a +-10 degrees in idle up mode.

Your pitch range is good. Make sure your throttle is also set at Idle Up.

When going into the roll, it is best to do it with the wind. Gives it a longer look. You will need good speed initially. Once you start the roll (either left or right) lower your throttle/pitch control towards 3/4 stick. Once fully inverted, have your throttle/pitch control at half. When the heli begins to get back to level flight, have the throttle/pitch control about 3/4. Push forward on the elevator stick, as well as giving power and pitch.

I would recommend that you try it on a simulator first and get use to the controls.

Alright thanks for your help. Would it be easier to try a roll in a hover or in forward flight like you suggested?

personally, i think a loop as a first semi inverted move is the easiest.

when you get comfortable with a loop, start stopping the loop when the heli is inverted at the top of the loop. get as much speed as you can, and fly into the wind, and the heli will almost do it for you.

as for rolls, i personally find them easier to do in forward flight. to do consecutive rolls during a hover can be hard to do for a beginner.

I, too like doing rolls in forward flight. As for doing consecutive stationary rolls, it really has to do alot with timing of the manuver and the postion of the control sticks.

Also, as mentioned, first attempt the manuver on the simulator (if you have one handy) It will really save you some heart ache.
