very important. esspecially for nicads.

i highly recommend you get a good charger/discharger, it is well worth the investment.

depending on the condition of the pack and how it has been used. you might only be getting as low as 25% of the actual capacity of the pack, atleast from my experience.

but if you put it through a few SLOW cycles on a charger/discharger, you can generally revive the pack and get up to its rating. then you can get way more flights on a pack.

depending on the condition of your pack, this could be causing the brown out.

i generally cycle all of my nicad's and Nimh packs once every month or so, depending on use. it keeps them fresh and performing to their full potential.

sounds good I will try that later today.

2X 4.8 rx packs plugged in direct( no glitch )

next I'll try cycling the pack and run 1 direct to rx

I'm thinking a 6.0 volt set-up is better

just FYI

when i cycle my packs, i do it at a 500mA charge and discharge rate. and i do a minimum of 3 cycles. normally by the 3rd cycle, the capacity is about as good as its going to get. atleast from my experience.

this glitch is frustrating
Just when i'm starting to fly around and do some nose in flying I get this.

I never had this problem running 4.8 before Maybe I should go to a 6.0 set-up

at least on my 450 this isn't a problem

I remember seeing a jack plug type switch somewhere before but lost the link

if you think the switch is the problem, then stop using it. connect the battery directly to the RX.

check for other loose connections. turn the power on, and wiggle everything around, tap the servo's, and so on.

i know how frustrating a glitch can be. last year i was getting a lot of fail safes on my predator...turned out it was a combination problem of a bad throttle servo, and routing the antenna different.

1 pack direct connect to rx so far no problems

I hope it was the switch ( after all it was less than 10$)

check the throttle servo DS821

While I was still in the learning stages with my Hawk Pro and using training gear, I had noticed the throttle ( DS 821 )acting up and when I was landing the throttle stayed at 1/2 to 3/4. I had enough neg. pitch to keep it pinned down while I waited for the fuel to burn out. Horizon Hobby repaired it at no charge but I'll never use it again. I've heard of similar stories from the guys at the hobby shop.

Throttle servos are connected to a great source of vibration on your heli....your engine.
Even more so if your engine is not tuned right or if your using aluminium throttle (carb) and servo arms.

They may not need much torque to do the job but they need to put up with a fair bit of vibration, (enigine, out of balance fan and clutch etc)

I think most good "heli" branded servos have an isolated board so that it is not directly resting on the case it is in, and dampening the vibration that effects the servo.

I'm not 100% clear on if that is what they mean by an isolated board but it seems to make sense and I'm sure standard servos do not offer that benefit.

Just my 2 bits

DOH!
