Just got my new heli all put together and flying almost as good as I would like. As the title of my post reads it is the new freya OP 2, it is flying quite nicely but I am still somewhat concerned about the engine rpm and the headspeed. I am running a YS 91sr with a hatori pipe. The problem is that I found the headspeed to be too high with the originalo gearing which was 91/11 so I changed the main gear to a 95 tooth gear and left the 11 tooth clutchbell now the headspeed is good but I am afraid of overworking the engine. It has not gotten too hot yet but I still haven't pushed the machine as hard as I would like should I be worried about this or is there something else I could try?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

The ratio for that engine should should be around 8.25... the 91 gear was OK.

Should you be above 15700rpm would mean that you're overspeeding!

You need to go back to the 91/11. 95/11 is going to blow up that engine if you get the head speed close to where that model will really fly well, and it's going to DRINK fuel. You'll be fine up to around 1900 with 8.27 and the SR.

Go back to the stock ratio.

Maybe it is just me but the heli seemed to fly much better with the 95/11 ratio and fuel consumption did not change much at all. What would you think about trying the 93 tooth main gear which is what I wanted to use but since I already had a 95 around from an older freya I tried that first.

I it from Udisco in montreal I'm not sure what the price would be for only the heli kit as i bought it as a package deal with the ys 91sr and Hatori pipe for 1500$ cad. If you are interested you can visit their website www.udisco.com or call them at 514-481-8107. I am guessing that the heli alone would be about 900-1000$.

I think the gear ratio you choose will be determined by what you want to do with the model. 8.27:1 (91:11) is perfect for 3D. It allows the OS to run in it's powerband without having to jack up the head speed to 1900 or 2000 rpm.

This gear ratio provides significantly better performance (in my opinion as I've just put 3 flights on my new gear) for maneuvers that load the machine.

If you are into bigger, rounder more contest oriented flying then stick with the 12/11:95 ratio.

No matter what ratio you choose, you are looking for an engine RPM of 14,500 to 15,500. The OS produces more power above 15,000 than below, hence the new gear ratio from Hirobo.
