I was considering the temporary membership for November and December until I found out it those months be included in the 09 price, saving $40. I didn't get a warm and fuzzy from the AMA rep I spoke too, but later found it on the membership application form.

Insurance coverage is effective on the date of receipt at AMA Headquarters of a properly completed application and correct dues payment. Membership ends each year on December 31, regardless of the
date a membership application is received. Applications received after September 15 will be valid for the remainder of that year and all of the following year.

i thinki i would have to agree with tryan on the fact that insurances do suck. I have never had to make a claim but always gotta pay full boat every year. BULL shiznit! we should get like 50% back or 75%. if no claims were made and they had to pay out nothing to you... WHY SHOULD THEY GET ALL MY MONEY FOR DOING NOTHING FOR ME! insurance is a scam just like, and id hate to be the one to say it but, no never mind better not. ive said my piece.
ama? NO{x}

The problem is that it is not linear. Just cause you don't make a claim this year or next, if you do finally make one it will likely be many times greater than all the money you have ever paid into it. I am not saying I like it but I do understand it. I just wish I didn't have to also pay them for the other business crap like advertising and their pretty office furniture.

We just had a windstorm that came through these parts and tore the roofs up on a couple of my houses. I was just going to pay it out of pocket, but I was informed that my rates would go up anyway.
I find this to be bull$^&*.
Oh the only thing keeping me from getting a big nitro is that I will probably have to drive an hour to fly it. Just like everyone telling us we cant ride our motorcycles here and there.
AMA no
Club prices

When we had baseball sized hail here in 2004, my insurance company deemed it an "Act of Nature" and said it would have no effect on our policies. That has held true. Sound like you guys need better insurance companies

I have AMA for me and my 2 eldest sons
Club price is $60 individual, $70 family.
We have a nice gated field with shelters, porta jon and a heli hovering area (big enough to flip around too).
Photo below is a panorama. Flying area is to the right half.
Hover area is the grassy area behind the shelter.
Notice the pilot boxes (left of photo) have netting waist high to protect from errant planes taking off.

Yes, grass. It happens sometimes when you have rain.
You can even put it in your front lawn instead of using concrete or lava rocks.
