bet that little community tells you when to mow the grass where to park your car no rooftop antennas all the community rules.

LOL, that's funny you picked up on that. The last place we lived, the neighbor across the street painted thier house flouresent green with light purple trim. Even thier kids called it the Easter egg house. They'd tell thier friends that it so bright it glows in the dark. I'm fine to give up a little freedom if means my neighbors can't park on the lawn or put thier cars up on blocks in the front yard.

How did you know where I live?

I hear ya! I gotta go get a nonchalant photo of my neighbors. I actually threatened the courthouse that I was gonna refuse my property tax until it was reevaluated to the neighborhood specifically one house I live next to.

Reviving this topic with a twist!

Local AMA Club Prices.

I contacted my local plane club 20miles away which there are a couple heli pilots and first year membership is $100 and $50 thereafter is this good or bad? Good news is they use some of the money for cookouts during the summer on Wednesday evenings. Bad news is its at an airport mostly abandoned no full size plane traffic the main hangar I just found out was used for indoor flying. It has been taken over by a horse farm.

I now need my AMA crap thanks to TJinGuy I learned this about AMA always buy in january.

Yeah I had to join in the middle of the year and didn't know until I received my card that it was a Jan-Dec thing. Awe well, I had to if I wanted to go to a night fly over the 4th of July so I just did it.

I still dont care much for AMA Nazi's pushing my people into the holocaust!

Yeah just like everything in this country regulate it and take peoples money so they can enjoy themselves.

Like TJ just said he ended up paying $20 a day this year.

My main reason for considering it is just to use a bigger field I wat to get a little crazy with my little electric I can get 3 mistakes high in the ballpark but not nearly that far out.

That just pisses me off think Ill go down to the basement and load some rifle shells and make 5 gallon of wine!

oops sorry I got my cost mixed up I was thinking $100 local club dues not $65 AMA.

$165 for the first year to fly at big field and $115 thereafter till AMA or club dues rise. Thats more than I paid for my HBK2.

I have it but I normally dont fly at AMA fields anyway.

I keep it simply because its added insurance. Just in case.

I used to be a big supporter of the AMA having been a member since 1970 and because I am a Contest Director, but as of late I really dont see where they are doing us much good.

Anyway just my 2 cents.

Hey T,

I check on the field that is right by our shop, they require AMA and their dues are $100 a year. And like you said, they have cookouts and a couple of funfly each year that the dues pay for.

Wooohooo! The 2009 AMA card came in the mail today. Didn't know I'd need to put my name and AMA number on all my heli's. How are you guys doing that? Sharpie? Label maker? Free hand with a paint brush?

Yes, but it would be more expensive than just committing to 2009. I called the AMA and they said if I get the 2009 membership after September (15?), it would start imeadiately and run through the end of December.

If I'm not mistaken the $20 3 month trial license is transferable to the full membership $58 within the 90 days so it would be about the same thing.

I hate to do it but I will be getting mine soon also didnt know about the september 15th thing though that is cool. Would of bought it by now If I had known that little fact.
