| first off you are forced to be AMA to fly at a AMA club,
| Right. That's the point. If you are not able to drive safely then you loose your license to protect the other drivers. I don't know if the local fields do much AMA policing or reporting. If so then the same logic applies. When I'm flying around other people, I'd like some assurances that not only the pilots but the spectators are not goofballs.

On Youtube I can feel a safe distance. But if I was at a field with other pilots, I'd want to have a standard of behavior. Having raced RC cars at a number of years at different tracks, its no fun when the rules aren't enforced. Its shocking how badly some people behave when they know there will be no consequences.
There's a one way road in front if my house. Stand out side for 10 minutes and you'll see a couple cars go through the wrong way. Its not enforced, so the local's do what they want with no regard for traffic laws or the reason they are in place. All to save 2 minutes to drive around the road.

| laws affect me daily with my guns my motorcycles now my helis? I have yet to hurt anyone with any of them.

Its not you I'm worried about. Its the guys drinking beer and putting fireworks on thier heli's. Youtube is filled with stuff I would not want to happen any were near me or my family. About the helmet laws. Look at this way. An uninsured rider takes a spill, has a head injury. He lives but can't work and maybe can't even take of himself. Family can't afford to take of him or isn't around. Who pays for his care for the rest of his life? We all do.
How about auto insurance? I was hit by an uninsured motorist. He totaled my car. Of course, after the they towed away both cars, he was never seen or heard from again. Who paid for my totalled car? We all do. At least those of us that have insurance.
From my experience, you can't trust the general public to do the right thing.
