No at the moment

I do have a million dollar personal liability policy that kicks in after the limits on my home owners policy.

That being said I will join in November when it will cover all of 2009 and not just 4 months of 2008 since they don't prorate

Yeah I had to join in the middle of the year and didn't know until I received my card that it was a Jan-Dec thing. Awe well, I had to if I wanted to go to a night fly over the 4th of July so I just did it.

AMA dont they make you feel like a tool? Take a great hobby and make it a legal issue with applications and forms and brochures. All the while telling you you gotta have it and people wont let you fly at their site without it.

If freedom is free why does it cost so much to live!

AMA $58 single membership x number of members=$$$,$$$,$$$.$$
I bet 80% of all money is gobbled up by administrative costs.

AMA makes RC flying feel like golf. I mean have yo uever gone to a golf course and looked at the rules? You can't do anything! They pretty much try to suck every tiny bit of fun out of the game. That is how reading over the AMA rules makes me feel. They give you pages full of rules and then hold your coverage over them. I know it is really not a big deal for the long time members but the new guys are quite put off by it, at least I was and am.

I don't have AMA membership but will get it if I join a club. I don't a problem with rules or authority. It sets a minium standard of behavior, which I welcome. Look at these nuts on Youtube catching T500s in thier hand and what not. Would you like to fly at the same field as that guy? Would you like to be the one to tell that guy to cut it out?

Its kind of like a drivers licence. Let someone else set and enforce the rules so I can focus on flying not policing.

first off you are forced to be AMA to fly at a AMA club, Safety I say take care of yourself and let others do what they want just keep you and your kids away. Almost like having kids walk up on you forcing you to land yeah we do it cause we are intelligent enough to know when to quit. I find ignorance usually is self sufficient thats why god invented crotch rockets and street racing.

Laws were made to protect stupid people only hindering those who like to let loose a little.

laws affect me daily with my guns my motorcycles now my helis? I have yet to hurt anyone with any of them. Cant people just leave me alone wheres the freedom at again? As I am told to wear a seatbelt or a helmet because its the law. Well I do anyway so why does it need to be a law?

AMA its the law!

I just don't get it??You pay your 58 bucks you can fly where ever and if you ever have a accident they pay plus other benefits. What's so wrong with that, and what rules only different club rules.Tryan you sound like Tryanburg with all the talk about money,it's 58 bucks a year, you'll spend that on crash parts in a weekend.

Tryan,I thinks cable should be free,I don't think I should be told what channels I can view and not view.My cable bill is 80 bucks a month for basic cable ,thats bull and then it will go out from time to time,no rebate on down time nothen. The biggest rip off in this country is cable You should work for AMA

Right. That's the point. If you are not able to drive safely then you loose your license to protect the other drivers. I don't know if the local fields do much AMA policing or reporting. If so then the same logic applies. When I'm flying around other people, I'd like some assurances that not only the pilots but the spectators are not goofballs.

On Youtube I can feel a safe distance. But if I was at a field with other pilots, I'd want to have a standard of behavior. Having raced RC cars at a number of years at different tracks, its no fun when the rules aren't enforced. Its shocking how badly some people behave when they know there will be no consequences.

There's a one way road in front if my house. Stand out side for 10 minutes and you'll see a couple cars go through the wrong way. Its not enforced, so the local's do what they want with no regard for traffic laws or the reason they are in place. All to save 2 minutes to drive around the road.

Its not you I'm worried about. Its the guys drinking beer and putting fireworks on thier heli's. Youtube is filled with stuff I would not want to happen any were near me or my family. About the helmet laws. Look at this way. An uninsured rider takes a spill, has a head injury. He lives but can't work and maybe can't even take of himself. Family can't afford to take of him or isn't around. Who pays for his care for the rest of his life? We all do.

How about auto insurance? I was hit by an uninsured motorist. He totaled my car. Of course, after the they towed away both cars, he was never seen or heard from again. Who paid for my totalled car? We all do. At least those of us that have insurance.

From my experience, you can't trust the general public to do the right thing.

Norsy my friend I am not gonna argue AMA sucks if it does what you say that I have not observed thats a good thing. But I pay enough insurance in my life I have made one claim on a car that wasnt my fault got hit in a parking lot even got the liscense plate # but I paid my $1500 deductible and the insurance didnt want to sue the other party their part was a $1000 so they wrote it off I never seen my deductible. So I do not by nature trust any insurance co. after that.

And Norsy you dont know what I do for a livin do ya? You know that stuff called broadcast TV you hang a coat hangar in the air and watch TV for free no cost to you. I make that possible Id be willing to bet I have done a transmitter for one of the channels in your hometown. Done 64 so far this year. Dish network raised my bill cause of rising prices but still sponsor a nascar. I told them to shut it off I now watch free HDTV over the air signal. Yeah I hate someone telling me how I have to spend my money.

Norsy you drop your cable Id buy you a set of rabbit ears.

Your right greg the easiest thing to do is conform to the masses like norsman does.

But Im just feeling a little pinned gas prices utility bills insurance for everything. BTW I have no life insurance policy. Just somebody else telling me how I have to live. I seen your car picture I bet that little community tells you when to mow the grass where to park your car no rooftop antennas all the community rules. Im gonna find a place to move in the next 5 years to a 10acre with a pond and invite all of you to come fly no AMA card needed. I know which ones of ya I can trust.
