I purchased hawk pro brand new this past winter... i took it out and started some test flights.... i was having trouble with it trying to lift off.... high end pitch was at 9 degrees positive and still didn't leave the ground then all sudden shot straight up to about 8 feet and floated back down... i checked the blade grips and mine has washers in it... took it all apart .... put it back together it was in correct order the washers.... can't test it just yet, landing gear was broken on last test... i want to put thrust bearings in the blade grips but there out of stock everywhere..... if anyone has any i would like to purchase them from you..... very disappointed... flying helis for while now ... and never seen anything like this ... also i can't believe century would even think about washers for replacements of thrust bearings....... if i can't get this heli going i am going to decomission it... since i am finding parts of hard to get for it......

No they will not accept the 5mm spindle. If you want to upgrade to thrust bearings you need to do the full 6mm spindle upgrade. See my post above for details on ESKY parts that work and are cheaper.

I believe your initial problem was simply the result of the thrust spacers/washers being installed in the wrong order.

The smaller one goes to the inside (it will ride against the inner race of the outer radial bearing) and the larger one will go on after that to ride against the locknut.

If they are reversed, all will be fine on the bench, but as soon as your rotor comes up to speed, the centrifugal force will cause the large washer (that is now against the bearing) to bind against the outer race of the bearing and your servo will not have the power to overcome this binding force and will not be able to push the collective to the desired pitch.

As oldfart says. I spent 4 days trying to figure this problem out and it almost drove me to drinking! MORE!

If it doesn't fly sell it!

SPARX.... question for you... i bought the parts for the upgrade like you said..... i have like an half inch of play after i put it together.... i then put 3 washers behind the blade grip to the head to stop the play , what i was wondering if you could give the order of what you put into the blade grips and behind the head... my upgrades came with lots of washers and things... how i have it now is nut on spindle then thrust bearings , then bearing, then on onside of blade grip i have washer , then bearing , then 3 washers .... what is your setup on that....... thanks

I havent got to put it all together yet. Sorry bud. But I looked at the Raven manual and I would think you just put it together like that. They reallyl did not offer alot of info in that thread other then what to buy. I am laid up after a surgery right now and havent had a chance to put it all together. Sorry .

ok sorry to hear that hope you feel better soon.... well if you put it together just like in the instructions with this upgrade you have about half inch of play on both sides on the head.... i tried many combinations and found that 3 washers behind the head seems to work... do you think thats ok having 3 washers behind the blade grips to the head.... i hope some one will post the order of what they used on it......

If you have the bearing installed in the grip as in the instructions, then I see no problem putting in the extra washers to fill out the space. You are basically just shimming the grips. Just make sure there is not binding and I would think it should be ok.
