After some gentle tweaking I set my Hawk Pro down on my driveway and let it spool down. I suddendly heard the sound of plastic bounce along my driveway. Knowing that this is a bad thing I shut down immediately. Looking carefully I saw that both washout arms broke exactly the same way (see pic). I'm trying to diagnose what happened. I think the pins must have slipped out of the bushing and somehow locked the arms, causing them to split apart. One ball link was popped off too so that may have caused it. I'm not sure though. Anyone have any ideas what happened?
Tks.

Did the washout base maybe slip down far enough to disengage from the rotation pins?

If the pins are out of the rotor hub, you are probably right. Two things to check when you get it back together....glue the pins in the hub with CA, and check to make sure the washout hub does not come off the pins when you are at full negative collective pitch.

Yep, I agree that the washout pins must have came out out of the hub. I'll check to see if I had too much neg movement to cause it.
BTW, I see that Tower has discontinued the part from their catalog but carry it for the Kinetic 50. It looks to be identical. I assume these are the same parts?

Same part, but you might want to consider the metal ones. They are not that expensive and remove quite a bit of slop.

I wholeheartedly agree with rcsoar4fun. Get the metal peices. A bit more slop free.

Well, my negative pitch in my throttle curve (-4) was not enough to cause the pins to slip out. At full negative the pins protrude below the hub. So that I guess was not the cause.
So I still don't know what caused it.

Is it possible it would do so with pitch trim set to full down? Had that happen before.
