Hi Chris here are the pic’s of the main shaft angle
I’m not sure I have the right maximum forward angle of the main mast/main shaft on the Dauphin it seems to me mine is leaning forward way to much, the previous owner had fitted all the wood work, the Fenestron tail boom has been set to match the machanices so where the dog drive coupling hooks up to the tail boom there seems to be a great angle I would think there is meant to be next to no angle for it to work efficiently.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers Patty

There is actually going to be some angle. The EC 135 is the same way. I don't remember the exact amount of angle, but it's there at the tail drive.

Looking at your pics your mechs are mounted correctly. Shoot a pic of your tail drive, I'd like to see what it's looking like.

Hi Chris
I’ve pulled the tail boom out of the heli to try to realign the dog drive on the boom to the machanices when I get the right angle. I guess I jumped the gun a bit

Hi Chris
By removing the boom from the fuzz I was able to get the coupling looking straight on to the machanices but it still doesn’t tell me if the machanices are on the right angle going by my main shaft angle I need this to be correct before I go any further in gluing every thing back in the Manuel tells me absolutely nothing
Hope this will help me get a resolve
Cheers patty

Angle looks fine. Be sure to add grease into the female part of the taildrive on the mechanics. Also, you really only want 1mm of play in the tail drive, forward and back.

Hi Joe
Do you think the main shaft is leaning foward to much ? going by the drawings it's 10 mm to far back.

I work on the real ones for the Coast Guard and your shaft is actually not as far forward as the real one.

Vario Dauphin -VS- len mount

Hi other than the vario being smaller and the nose shorter do you see a great similarity in both fuses and is the vario's fiberglass stronger. From your pics it looks super nice thanks

The Vario body is for the Dauphin (AS365).
Len Mount body is for the Eurocopter EC155.

This is a much bigger machine in a different class all together.

Hey Guys
All done, 720’s are locked and loaded to the swash plate I had to make a new mount for the gyros the first one was to small, everything works a treat, just need to clean up the wiring before I put the machanices back into the fuzz, next job is fitting the tuned pipe.

Hi Marcello
I’ll be using the X-Treme Machanices it’s got a OS 70 as the power plant, I have a OS 91 SZ as a back up in case the 70 isn’t up to the job, it should do though.

power plant

Im going to save you the trouble and let you know that the OS .70 although is a great engine, will have a very hard time lifting that machine, and powering the fenestron at the same time. On a nice calm cool day it should be fine, anything over 80F with some humidity, no dice. I know from experience with my Vario EC. Very nice job so far. good luck -Adam

Hi Adam
I see in your gallery you have an EC135 on nitro set up is that the one you’re talking about?
I’ve asked this question at the start of this thread and many have said it’ll be fine and some say what you’re saying, I have my doubts as well.
Adam that’s why ive got the OS91 on standby.
Marcello
At the stat of this thread I mentioned that I brought the Dauphin second hand, unfinished project, if I had my time over I would of brought a new one with a gasser set up, there is nothing worse in doing all this work and have smoke coming out the back side of it.
I have a new Vario EC135 not started yet and it’s going to have a gasser set up in it.
Cheers Patty

That is the one, You can see there are pictures with smoke coming out the back, that is with the os engine, and pictures without smoke, and that is when I put the electric engine in. All the pictures with it flying are with an electric engine. If you want to convert your extreem mechanics over it is very simple, just call east coast scale Vario. - Adam

Having seen Adam's heli at the NATS I can say that the elec. set up performs very well, and it seemed to be lacking nothing. Very nice.
