Hi all
I just got done putting some fp hornet blades I got from a friend. The problem I am having is that I can't get it to hover more than 1ft of the ground. Any ideas?
My set up is:
stock batt
orion elite motor
10t pinion
h-board

Thanks, Ren

You'll need to shim the blades at the mounting points to increase pitch (leading edge up and trailing edge down). Do it in small increments and make sure to do it equally on both blades to maintain tracking. Head speed will be higher as the Hornet blades are less draggy, so it's bite will be more painful Also crash damage will be more extensive It will also be more responsive on the cyclic, so be ready.

go up on your pinion a couple of teeth. This will increase the headspeed so the hornet blades will produce enough lift and you will also be rewarded with a more stable Hummingbird.

I have the same blades and am loving them!

Thanks For the tips I'll try them when I get home. One question though what should I make the shims out of?

Electrical or stripe tape works well.

You can also heat them with a hair dryer and put more pitch in them by twisting them.
Make sure you twist the equally, when they cool down they will keep the torsion and have more pitch.

THANKS for the help everyone! It flies great! But I have one last question can I paint the tips of the blades so I can tell where they are at? Almost cut my leg last night

Thanks Ren

Sure. Hi Vis yellow is a good choice. Paint the same amount on both and recheck balance when dry.

FWIW, these CF hornet blades have saved me about $30.00 so far (2 sets of blades). A couple of blade strikes that I know were severe enough to break the stock blades. The first one on a metal self leg and the second quite a few raps on a propane tank outdoors. Just a slight blemish on the first one and a small nick, easily sealed, on the second one. I am impressed!
