As Chad said, some have had success running the full length antenna.

Having said that, we do suggest using a base loaded antenna(I prefer the Revolution), Just for "insurance". Anything that you can do to prevent any interference is the safe way to go. This is also the reason we suggest using PCM.

I have flown my gasser for four years with only one instance of interference. That instance was caused by needing to replace the spark plug. I now change them about every 6 months or 6 gallons of gas, and have not had an issue since.

With the revolution antenna installed, I have flown my gasser just about as far out as anyone would want to, with no loss of signal.
