My R50 bit the dust yesterday out at the local field, to an audience of about 8 plank flyers! I wasn't showing off I was just putting the heli through its pace's!
Anyway I was on my 2nd tank off the afternoon and was having fun doing auto's, tumble's, invert hovering, rolls etc. when I thought I'd do some stationary rolls in front of me(ie.hovering at eye level and continuously rolling it over), I had done them before but this time on my 3rd roll I was a bit to low and my timing was out and just as it was coming out of it, it smacked into the ground.
I stood there, turned to a mate beside me and we both started laughing, because we could both see that was going to happen, I knew as soon as I rolled over it wasn't going to be good.
Upon walking over to it I was supprised as there was very little damage, the skids had been torn off(and broken), spindle was bent and flybar was bent, and 1 blade was stuffed. Only a small dent on the boom where 1 blade had folded around but either than that the whole tail boom and assembly was in perfect condition!
Upon futher inspection at home I found my muffler was cracked in two places which really pissed me off, but a bit of aluminium welding should fix that up good!
So I think I got off very light considering what happened, but the thing is I don't think my parents will be happy when I ask to borrow more money being a student and all!!!
Pretty average crash but just had to share with all!
