Their either in financial difficulties or are just very greedy, wanting to keep the distributors cut!

As I said before, the falling value of the US dollar has forced Mikado to cut the middleman (distributor) in order to keep the prices of these otherwise expensive kits competitive.

Nothing is final yet.

Helihobby has faithfully been selling and supporting Mikado products for over 8 years now. We build them, offer FULL technical support, Aerial photography setups, even Scale conversions. We recommend these heli’s on a regular basis as they are some of the highest quality products around. We purchase so much Mikado, that AeroModel has often had trouble supplying us with the amount of stock needed. When we heard of Mikado's decision to drop Aeromodel we immediately tried contacting Mikado directly to ensure our customers have the parts they need. Mikado has not emailed/called/or PM'd back after several attempts to contact them and Helihobby is extremely disappointed to see Mikado distribute through a smaller retailer rather than setup shop in the US or chose a distributor more equipped for their line.

We feel the decision to distribute through a smaller retailer will drastically impact Mikado in a negative way and so have tried our best to secure the Mikado line here at Helihobby, unsuccessfully. Since all our contacts to Mikado have been ignored Helihobby will unfortunately be compelled to discontinue the Mikado products unless a more dependable source becomes available.

Again, all of their staff have been now almost since announcement in USA and in at the Ircha event, I would not suspect communication until late next week at earliest.

Thanks!

Hi John,
Mikado will begin shipping stock to us as soon as they return from IRCHA (about 1 week).
Thank you for your patience.

Sounds a bit risky to change the business model in the midst of economic turmoil and solid Asian competitors. Somewhat reminiscent of the moves made in the US market by another strong European producer, having trouble remembering their name.....oh yeah, Robbe.

Vario

Vario did the same a few years back and it was a good change.

As much as I don't see the brand being encouraged with the decision, I will agree with that assessment of the situation. Let's see.

My dad used to say, "Booo in one hand, sh_t in the other and see which one fills up quicker". Oh, he also said, "All that booo and a $1.50 might get you a cup of coffee at the truck stop". He said a lot of other things that made even less sense when I was 10 ... like "whose kid are you anyway" and, "leave before I kill you", and "what are you doing in the bathroom all day and night, why don't you come on out and give someone else a chance". Anyway, the point is .... there is no point! What's the point? Stuff is what stuff is. Might as well make the best of it.
