Dumping Aero-Models is the best thing they could have done. Finally a company with good customer service as the norm.....Ron

Hopefully Esprit Model and FXaeromodels will still be dealers. I can't see why they would take that away from them?

One dealer

Yes it is true. Mikado has temporarily suspended distribution of its product in the U.S. effective Monday this week.

As of now it is planned that there will be only ONE dealer. There are no distributors. The falling value of the dollar has forced Mikado to ‘cut’ the middle man (distribution) from the product chain.

And to clarify, the new supplier will be a DEALER. NOT a DISTRIBUTOR as the profit margin will no longer support the extra level in the supply chain. That also means that it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the new dealer will act as a distributor.

In the short term, wonder if that means no kits/parts for sale at IRCHA this year. If Aero-model is already out, and R/H is not quite ready to take over........?? Was looking forward to that. Maybe we'll be surprised.

In the long term, as glad as I am to see R/H get the Mikado line, it's also scary that they will be the ONLY source. If this is to be the case, sure hope Mikado know's what it's doing to keep R/H fully
stocked at all times, for all models and keep prices well in check, at all times.

Most of the delivery problems aero-model was experiencing was at Mikado's end. There was a lot of criticism of the distributorship but the truth is many problems occurred in Germany.

The business model of going to a dealer make financial sense. The lack of varying sources means the customers have limited choices with regards to getting deals on pricing (not that r/h is not a good dealer).

Thinking Mikado burning some bridges here for sure, as bet the day will come that they want to grow their market share and have more dealers again. Would think a better option would be to sell direct from overseas to the dealers that are currently setup and just cut out the middle man in the USA. I'm sure most dealers would be happy doing this as better then being cut off and kicked to the street.

Was looking at buying a Logo 400 with V-Bar but not buying a Heli that has only one dealer that sells parts for it in North America. If they are out no other dealer to go to get parts from. Think this might come down to Mikado not being able to supply enough kits or parts for the demand they have in North America, and not wanting to be slammed with all the orders that they can't fill.

It wasn't shipping problems for Aero-model that got people pissed, it was the horrible customer service.

I agree that if shops like Esprit-model and FX are not in the loop, that it will hurt Mikado in the long run. I was under the impression that RH was going to take the place of AM and be the source point for the USA and then I read it again.....Ron

Well, if this is all true, then I guess I need to get my deposit back and hopefully they will have a Logo 400 to sell at IRCHA.

Well if Mikado kept Aero-model stocked and then they stocked the LHS I don't really see the difference. ReadyHeli will be just as stocked if not more then Aero-models, unless I'm not understanding the concept.

Readyheli will be the ONLY source for Mikado in the US now. They are not the distributor like AM was, they are the only dealer now.......Ron

Exactly, so how will it be any worse then Aero-models? I'm sure if they are the ONLY dealer they will have a ton of inventory. I think in the end it will be just fine unless RH goes on a vacation or has a server crash.

Well if you need a part, you have to order it, no more LHS support. Yes they will be stocked BUT they will control the pricing also. Competition breeds better pricing.....Ron

Yeah, I agree on the worry of price fixing, we will have to wait to see on that. As far as LHS, I have never bought one Helicopter part from a LHS here in Michigan. I mail order everything. The only things the LHS have here is comic books and Thomas the Train. LOL!!!

That's exactly the problem. It will be very hard to promote an already too expensice heli. Most aquired it because of little 'deals' dealers gave. With out these, those kits becomes alittle expensive for alot but the true Logo enthusiast.

As a heads up though, I saw the Logo 400 pricing it's VERY attractive! (Hold of on your t-rex 500 purchases)

As far as the Logo 400 is concerned majority of people though when it comes down to it like a product that has a good dealer network and that is Align on the T-Rex 500 for sure, was before and even more so now. Do I still want a Logo 400 well yes but I am seriously worried about getting parts for it, really have to keep my own supply of parts now as don't have a list of dealers I can go to to get them.

Also sales wise bet that Align sells a staggering number of Helis compared to Mikado as majority of sales for Helis come from people shopping at local stores and seeing what they have to offer and purchasing right there and are not the mail order type. Just think how easy it is to get Align for dealers as there is 4 to 5 distributors in USA alone of the products. No need to pay for or wait for orders to be shipped from Overseas.

Thinking that Align had a good chuckle over the decision by Mikado, but really totally different business model before and from now seeing this even more so now.
