Hi,

How come Futaba rcommend running the aerials 90 deg to from each yet they exit the rx case next to each other, why didn't they do it like Spektrum ?

Why are the aerial so long compared to Spektrum's ?

And how handy/good is this http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/...odID=SPMAR7100R why dosen't Futaba do anything like this ?

I'm a die hard Futaba lover always have been but Spektrum have some neat features/ideas which makes me think about changing over

Feel better now I've got that off my chest

Simon.

How come Spektrum has two receivers? The 90 rule is to get absolutely the best reception possible from any angle. Did you also see the note on keeping the radio antenna parallel to the ground? Another feature of both radios to get the best reception possible. I have seen (and done some of my own) installations with the antenna not 90 and no issues reported. Just the best way to go. I'm sure the electronics guys will chime in and technically explain why the antenna length is what it is on both radios.

It comes down to both work very well, put one in and go fly!

The active part of the Futaba antenna is the end part, about 1.2 inches. The rest is feedline.
I prefer the Futaba receivers - it lets you get the antenna away from any metal/CF.
Look at most of the Spektrum installations you see - the antennas are right up aginst the frame - not a good idea IMO.

You orient the antennas 90 degrees to each other to pick up the best possible signal. When your transmitter antenna is vertical, the horizontal antenna is only receiving about 5% of the signal, the vertical antenna receives 100% of the signal. The receiver internaly picks the strongest signal and uses it.
