Anyone else getting woof and poof on 600N like me ?

I switched to MAH blades and ever since I have had the woof like the raptor 50s would get but no poof yet thank god. I replaced my entire head with metal and replaced the links and balls all the way down to the swash plate so far and still doing it. Any ideas ?

Yup, replace the blades. Especially if ALL of your linkage and dampers are tight, that includes no slop anywhere even in the servos.

I bought the kit from Ricks when they were giving away the Mavrick G5 blades with it. Anyway I'm quite impressed with these blades. They are cheaper and they do a good job.

Take those MAH blades and use them for paint stirring. Then, get a real set of blades

You think your kids are expensive now?

Just wait until they move out!!

ouch! I had no idea the MAH blades were worthless. They cost more than the Radix I had before them. So MAH blades are known for causing issues?

I've bad experiences with 2 sets of MAH blades, one on my Titan and on my 600. Changed the blades and no more problems.

woof an poof

YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU CHECK BOTH BLADES WITH A PITCH GAUGE ALL THROUGH THE PITCH RANGE. BOTH BLADES NEED TO HAVE THE SAME PITCH AT ANY GIVEN STICK POSITION. HOW A WOOF HAPPENS IS THEIR IS MORE PITCH ON ONE BLADE THAN THE OTHER WHICH CAUSES A SELF ENFORCING VIBRATION THAT FEEDS ON ITSELF. GOOD LUCK

RMedlong ,

Please take the "CAPS LOCK" off when you post......no need to "SHOUT"....

Nalizan,

A friend had similar problems with those blades and his Raptor 50 V2..... changed the blades to the SAB's and problem went away....

Also, depending on how severe your "woof" was , you may want to check that your blade axle is still straight..... I know that the Raptor axles will bend in flight if the woof is severe enough....

Definitely got to try the Mavrick G5 Wide Chord blades. Great 3D set of blades at a great price.

Please explain how you manage to get different blade tracking though out the pitch range after you track the blades at the beginning?
30 years in this game and i haven't managed this yet

What he said.

Once I got the woof on my Hurrican, it wouldn't go away. I did the snake test with the spindle, and it looked fine. I finally removed the spindle and rolled it on glass - bent! But it was so slight it wouldn't show up until rolled on glass.

Replaced it and woof gone (also went to different blades)

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
It was a good trade!

so you swapped blades and spindle at the same time ?

I will replace my spindle and see if that does it. I borrowed a friends Radix stick bangers today and it all but went away. I thought I still heard it a few times even with those blades. Had obviously improved though with the Radix

Also I flew his 600 with my MAH blades and could not get them to woof. He does have flipped grips though and I have heard this was a raptor 50 fix for woof and poof

This is a quick fix but it only masked the issue. Remove all the screws that connect to a ball. While you are removing them make sure they are not bent. You can tell cause it will wobble while you are unscrewing it.

Do check the screws on the swash.

Does the woof happen transitioning through 0 degrees?

Some thing is definitely bent but the question is Where.

Woof: When the blades go out of track (severely). So much so you'd think the heli is going to explode.

Poof: When the heli does explode.

Lose the MAH blades. Give them to someone that owns a 600 class MA or Century heli. Ask for a jug of fuel in exchange.

question, whats wrong with the mah's? Is there a specific beef about them that can be explained? Just curious to see why no one likes them.

Fly it like you stole it, then sneak it in the house the same way..

Woof An Poof

What causes a woof is simple. As you increase collective one blade has more pitch than the other causing the blades to drasitcally go out of track an create a vibration that feeds on itself. Everyone has been in a hurry putting thier bird back together after a crash. But thier is one thing you can't rush an thats proper head set up. The seesaw to blade grip linkages need to be very close to the same lenght. It is possible to be at mid stick an have everything level an at 90 an also have different pitch ranges on each blade. Most people have a blade they mark to check tracking on an preform there pitch curves on. You need to make it a habit to check both blades that way if you make a mistake you can catch it. Sorry about the caps thing earlyer did know that meant I was shouting.

Your only partially correct. Slop can also cause this. As can a bent spindle or links. Sloppy servos or bent linkage. Its alot more involved than you think.

Or it could just be a bad set of blades. If one is twisting or flexing more than it should, then it can happen.

try this:

Set the pitch guage to what ever +6 degs. and lock the guage. Site it level to the flybar. Rotate to all four quadrants and note any unlevel conditions.

Do the same with the other blade and see if you get repeatable readings.

Change to 0, -6 degs etc and repeat.

Both Blades should be in alignment in all four quadrants.
