We all knew it, but finally we have proof...

When are the rest of you Con gun nuts gonna get the nerve up to stand up for your beliefs and storm your neighborhood church full of liberals?

You know you want to...

Let's just hope the law can find his heroes Hannity, Savage and Limbaugh liable for inciting him to violence, as in the case of Tom Metzger of the Neo-Nazi movement...

It's time to flush the toilet in this country...

Tenn. church rampage suspect eyes insanity defense

By DUNCAN MANSFIELD, Associated Press Writer
Wed Aug 6, 12:57 PM ET

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - An unemployed truck driver accused in a fatal church shooting plans an insanity defense for the rampage that left two people dead and six wounded, his lawyer said Wednesday.

Jim D. Adkisson, 58, waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday in what public defender Mark Stephens called a move to lay the groundwork for an insanity plea by getting his client's mental state evaluated as soon as possible.

Stephens said Tennessee law requires that the case get to the criminal court level before the defense receives money to pay for a mental evaluation.

"It is my burden to prove that he was insane at the time of the commission of the offense," Stephens said outside court. "It is absolutely critical a mental health expert see him now at this critical stage."

Prosecutors have agreed to move the case quickly to the grand jury, which is expected to return an indictment with additional charges, possibly in a few weeks, Stephens said.

Adkisson, 58, is currently charged with a single count of first-degree murder and remains held on $1 million bond.

Prosecutors allege that Adkisson fired three blasts with a sawed-off shotgun on July 27 at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville.

Police say Adkisson targeted the church because of its liberal leanings, citing a letter they found in his small SUV in the church parking lot and a statement he allegedly gave after the shooting.

Stephens said that in Tennessee in modern times, a "jury has never found a defendant not guilty by reason of insanity in a contested case. There have been times when defendants have been found not guilty by reason of insanity but that is usually by agreement with the prosecutors."

"So how difficult is it? It is difficult," he said.

Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen said Adkisson bought the shotgun at a pawn shop about a month before the shooting, and his letter was written about a week before the tragedy.

Adkisson carried 76 shells into the church, according to investigators. Police say he told them he expected to keep shooting until officers killed him.

Killed were 60-year-old Greg McKendry, a burly usher and church officer who was hailed as a hero for shielding others from gunfire, and 61-year-old Linda Kraeger, a retired English professor who had come to see a friend's grandchild perform in the church play.

At least one of the wounded remained hospitalized.

The 400-member church has a long history of supporting liberal issues and causes, including racial desegregation, environmentalism, women's rights and gay rights.

Adkisson's former wife, Liza Alexander, was once a member of the congregation, though it was so long ago church members say they can't remember her.

They were married almost 10 years when she obtained an order of protection against him in 2000, claiming he threatened "to blow my brains out" and she feared for her life.

You're a complete and total idiot if you think the radio talk show hosts you mentioned have ever incited violence. I would expect no less from a mental midget who has never once listened to any of the shows. Get a life... Go riot and protest something, after all that's what you left wing fascists do best.

Man held in Fla. on charge of threatening Obama

MIAMI - A man who authorities said was keeping weapons and military-style gear in his hotel room and car appeared in court Thursday on charges he threatened to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Raymond Hunter Geisel, 22, was arrested by the Secret Service on Saturday in Miami and was ordered held at Miami's downtown detention center without bail Thursday by a federal magistrate.

A Secret Service affidavit charges that Geisel made the threat during a training class for bail bondsmen in Miami in late July. According to someone else in the 48-member class, Geisel allegedly referred to Obama with a racial epithet and continued, "If he gets elected, I'll assassinate him myself."

Obama was most recently in Florida on Aug. 1-2 but did not visit the South Florida area.

Another person in the class quoted Geisel as saying that "he hated George W. Bush and that he wanted to put a bullet in the president's head," according to the Secret Service.

Geisel denied in a written statement to a Secret Service agent that he ever made those threats, and the documents don't indicate that he ever took steps to carry out any assassination. He was charged only with threatening Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, but not for any threat against President Bush.

Geisel's court-appointed attorney declined comment.

In the interview with a Secret Service agent, Geisel said "if he wanted to kill Senator Obama he simply would shoot him with a sniper rifle, but then he claimed that he was just joking," according to court documents.

A search of Geisel's 1998 Ford Explorer and hotel room in Miami uncovered a loaded 9mm handgun, knives, dozens of rounds of ammunition including armor-piercing types, body armor, military-style fatigues and a machete. The SUV was wired with flashing red and yellow emergency lights.

Geisel told the Secret Service he was originally from Bangor, Maine, and had been living recently in a houseboat in the Florida Keys town of Marathon, according to court documents. He said he used the handgun for training for the bail bondsman class, had the knives for protection and used the machete to cut brush in Maine.

In the affidavit, the Secret Service said Geisel told agents that he suffered from psychiatric problems including post-traumatic stress disorder, but he couldn't provide the names of any facilities where he sought treatment.

So some crazy guy threatens Obama. What about the crazy guy who shot Reagan? What's the difference? They are both crazy! Having a gun and holding the right to bear that gun is not the same as wanting to SHOOT people with that gun.

I figure the bottom line of liberalism looks much like the insane asylum. Everybody in a straight jacket and a muzzle - you see everyone is equal now! Just like liberalism! Pretty all-white rooms, with everybody happy now cuz everyone else is just as screwed as you.

I have to wonder, Lou, do you wake up in the morning and scour the internet looking for the latest bait you can drop by and leave here on RR for us? You know, there are bloggers out there who actually make MONEY writing drivel. Maybe you should consider your own blog where you can write this stuff. Sounds like a good business plan. On the other hand, we'd want to make sure that while you are earning money the hard way writing your stuff that you are paying your fair share of taxes to support those less fortunate. We wouldn't want you to appear to be a capitalist you know!

You know what's funny, Lou, the guy who threatened to kill Obama also said he'd do the same to Bush. Ironic. Apparently he doesn't discriminate between parties.

Edit: Nice, Ron. You must have caught that at the same time.

1stPlace,

This guy was a regular Faux news viewer and a fan of Savage, Hannity and Limbaugh. Their only purpose in life is to demonize liberals, and make idiots like him believe that liberals want to destroy our country. How long did you think it was going to be before one of you guys snapped? Frankly based on some of the far right wing rhetoric you and couple of the other guys spout around here, I'm surprised you haven't snapped already...

Most of you are brainwashed to the point where you regurgitate every single talking point that these right wing wackos put out there.

The only difference is, he had the guts to act on what he was being brainwashed to do...

I think a good attorney could find these right wing purveyors of hate speech liable for inciting this guy to violence.

The law got Metzger and he never made a direct order to go kill a black person, he just continued to demonize them and say they were the cause of every ill in our society. Eventually a couple of his listeners acted on his hate speech and they killed a man.

Metzger lost his entire estate and is penniless now, and rightly so.

The hatemongers at Faux should see the same fate for putting these ideas in your heads...
