e-Electric Motors & Controllers > Rx wire length from ESC to plug critical?

well my dumb luck probably, here's my problem,
i have 2 Electrify 35amp ESC's. one for a GP Reactor single wing which works perfect.
the 2nd one i bought for the GP Reactor Bipe based on the input from everyone saying it would be enough for the motor and battery in that plane, plus it's nice and light.
problem, i plug it into the Futaba 606FS Rx (and yes i have tried it on my other Rx's) and nothing..........wiggle the plug going into the Rx, then there is signs of life......wiggle it some more and it goes on and off..........after playing with this for about 5 minutes or so i decided to take a new Futaba servo extension i had laying around and cut the male plug side off and graft it on to the new ESC.........plug it in and Viola, instant life.
not the wierd part is the motor usually will make the beep alarm withing a second or two, but this one does nothing for a good 10-15 seconds..........a couple time it took twenty seconds before the motor could be armed........now what worries me is did changing the plug cause this?
is the length of the wire from the ESC to the Rx critical?

today i will be receiving my CC Phoenix 45, but i'd still like to wear this other unit out before using my CC 45.

Length in this case should not matter. What do you mean by graft?

i adapted a Futaba J end to the Rx cable.......but i shortened it a bit by cutting and treating the ends of the wire to accept the J plug.........funny, the stupid thing is working fine today.

Try adjusting the throws in your transmitter on the throttle channel - especially the low throttle end. Problems with intermittent arming are often caused by not quite enough low throttle travel. (Many ESCs need to see the low below a set threshold before they will arm.)
