dumb question but I'm haveing a brain fart. On the hyper coller there in a raised area on one side, does this side go up toward the bearing block or down.

Put the flat side (more material side) up against the bearing block. Tighten it after all the bearing blocks are in place and tight. It should have no up or down movement.
