I happened to stomble across two ys91sr's today. I have never used the ys engines are they any good? How will they compare to the os91sz pumped engines?

Yes I have OS engines as well. It will probably take you a little while to get used to the way they tune, and the sounds the YS engine make, but just be patient. And ask all the questions you need to about these engines. There's plenty of people here to help you get through the transition.....

I have both engines. The YS-SR in the Stratus and the OS/Pumped w/Viper head in the Aurora. I can tell you they are very close as far as performance.

Just make sure you understand which needle is which with the YS. They are opposite of the OS so refer to your owners manual.

Today after 1.5 gallons in the Aurora, I would say the OS...and it's not completely broke in yet. But to be fair, I am running the Oneil Viper head and the Kasama header. On top of that, I don't know if it's just because the Aurora is blowing me away or the motor is actually better.

I switched to the YS91SR, its $310 out of the box power, no mods, no upgrades or viper heads needed. I dont know which is more powerful, they are very close, so the price makes it a no brainer.

Only down side is availability is hot and cold, parts are always available though.

What fuel are you guys running? I am having some issues with my SR running on CYB Wildcat 30%. It seems that the YS's like the very thin oil like CoolPower, Power Master.

My SR makes terrific power past the midrange, like in a full power climb, but I'm having some trouble with consistant needles in the midrange, and that's where you are more often, transitioning. Aurora, 8:25 ratio, HS 1850 - 1880, SB19.

I may go back to my SZ, lightened rod and piston, OMI, MP5 until the HZ comes out with a good pump!

I run CYB Wildcat 30% with great success, it isnt the best idling engine I've had, but I dont care how it idles, just that it does.

I run cool power 30 with the Hatori SB19. Makes great power! Your pipes will work but you will not be maximizing the engine / torque band.

I'd recomment the Hatori over the MP2. The hatori will give you more power/torque.

I ma running CP30% with an SB-19. I love this engine! Smooth, smooth, smooth. I had a 91 ST for a long time and loved that engine too.

I have heard from several people that CP 30% or the new morgan fuel makes the YS really, really happy.

As far as a muffler goes, everyone I know is using the SB-19 and have had no issues with. I only know one guy who runs an MP5 and he has found no problems with it at all and he is real persnickety on how he likes his helis to run.

I am also having problems in the midrange. What I am going to do next is cut the spring of the check valve by 1/5th as suggested in this thread

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/...ighlight=ys91sr

but so far the engine makes awesome power with the Sb19.
