Great choice

Chris,

Congrats on the new bird, you will love it. I also got the 500 and have flown it over the last two weekends. It's very stable, yet fast, so although it hovers very nice it will react to the controls very fast.

Have you built it yet? If not I have some advice.

Again great choice.

Craig

Build tips...

Ozz58,

I'm all ears.

I have not really built it. I did a 'test build' (no thread lock, no double-sided tape, screws lightly tightened) and learned a few things. Then I took it apart. Now I'm waiting for some after-market frame stiffeners so I can go ahead with the final build (I need this to be really tough because it is a training bird).

I've been reading this thread GREAT INFO.!! What about the Trex 600? Any idea's. My first is a CP Pro. Also I'm on G4 almost every night after work. Have allot to learn so buliding would help ( rather learn that way then crash and learn ). Have the JR XP and it's 2.4 now......

600

FlightSchool,

I haven't flown a Trex-600, but have a 30 size nitro. Although the larger the bird the easier they are to fly, I don't notice that big of a difference between the 500 and my nitro.

The reason I went with the 500 was the price of the batteries, big difference. I would hope the price will drop on all batteries soon.

Do you have a CP pro? I do, and what a little monster it is. If you can fly it you will love the 500. If you don't, you might want to go with the Blade 400, as I said earlier in this post.

I have around $700 in my Blade 400 with new servos and three bateries. I have $1300 in my Trex-500 with two batteries and nice electrics.

Just the facts, you make the choice.

Thanks OZZ

I guess I'm just not sold on battery power. Don't have an educated reason so it's tough to admit. I need to get more experience around different people with different Heli's.
I like the CP Pro. It's a b***** to fly with perfect control though!!

yea, I was there with the nitro versus electric, and have both.

electric is so much cleaner and a lot less you have to take to the field, but flight time is a lot less.

What's the best, I really don't know. I like them both. But as I get older, the electric is so much easier to do. It might be both for me, if I have time, I'll go nitro, but after work with only a hour of time to fly it will be electic.

Both are good, and as you can see..........it's hard for me to pick.

Now if that wasn't just some rambling I'm not sure what is..

Bottom line......any fling is great!!!

Nearby field is all electric

I chose to go electric for one simple reason: The flying field near my home prohibits IC engines, because of noise issues.

I don't know if electric, nitro, or gas is best, but I don't have a choice.

I fly both nitro and electric too. The ease of electric and no clean up is awesome, the fuel and fly aspect of nitro is hard to beat. I used to wonder which was best now I see each has its place.....
