What's your definition of moderately priced? For around $850 you pick up a Canon HV30 for a little less the HV20. They are tape based but produce very good HD video. For the same prices you get the Canon HF10 or HF100. The HF10 has 16GB of memory built in and both also record to flash memory. Sony's SR11 and SR12 are also excellent prosumer HD camcorders which record to hard drive. Keep in mind that the majority of non-tape based HD camcorders are all using AVCHD and software editing support, while getting much better, is not universal. Plus to edit AVCHD footage with any efficiency will require a fairly powerful computer. The nice thing about most of the newer non-tape based camcorders is that they will actually record natively in 1920x1080 instead of 1440x1080 so you don't have to mess with pixel aspect ratio's when rendering the videos.

Okay, but I'll have to leave my wallet at home or else I'll end up with a new toy too.
