e-Electric General Discussion > Gyro position - Does it matter ?

Hi guys !

I have in my EXI 450 the gyro mounted just under the main shaft. Today i went out for the maiden and last setup/trims. Actually it wasn't a good day for flying a 450 class, but i couldn't held myself. There were winds of 6-7bf.

I went into Rate mode and lift off heading the wind which was from variable directions (NW-NE). Tail was acting weird and one time was making nose go left and the other time right. After trying to do some mechanical changes moving the servo and putting a little left trim heli seemed to flew nice (mind the winds of course). Then for once more i made the last mechanical correction and removed all the trim. Got into HH and heli was chasing the wind trying to face it.

Is this normal or when in HH heli should stay put where you firstly positioned it, not minding from where the wind blows.

Gyro is : http://cgi.ebay.com/GULANG-GM700-AV...p3286.m20.l1116

I am also thinking of re-placing gyro where i have the rx now. And if this won't help i ll try putting an analogue servo.

Tail servo is : http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...?idProduct=6607

Looking forward for your thoughts

Thanks

Hey bro,

Why not mount the gyro under the boom block like most do? The only problem I see with where you have it is that it's near a lot of electrical things that could interfere...wires, motor, etc.

And yes, when in HH mode, it should hold the tail position until you command it to move.

I made a bloop. Trying to reposition things i pulled hard the gyro servo plug and i tore it apart.

But i have a Walkera G011 gyro which i placed it over the boom block. Now the setup seems like most good old nice setups.

I have to fly it again and see how it holds. But i have to find a tail case first. Somehow it got broken.

In HH it couldn't hold. It drifted left or right, both directions. Why do you think this happened. Do you think it might be the winds ?

It's not the wind...even with good wind a HH gyro will maintain the tail.

Also, don't put it on TOP of the boom block....put it on the bottom. It will be safter from boom strikes there.

Without more info, it's hard to determine why it didn't hold the tail well.

Do you have any experience with any of them Paint ?

* I see you mention Beam E4. As i am interested in this heli, perhaps you can state any thoughts you have on it here http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t450092p1/

Thanks

I am amazed by the Beam. It has such a nice build up. I think i ll own it before autumn. kind of short of money now

As for the cheapos, you still don't oppose any arguments.

The problem of all that banging in the EXI 450 was coming from a really bad tail structure. After every landing or even in flight, tail belt was getting loose. I changed into a trex tail and heli hovers with gr8 authority.

No problem with all those cheapos. 220$ ready for flying is a gr8 price.

Hope it lasts before all that cheapos starts to need changing

Lol !!!

I bought my receiver when i was not short of money

As you can see here i am giving EXI 450 away (hope this is a fare trade), can't afford to get a third heli. I am in love with the beam.

I also have a 401/9257 in my Mini Titan
