very nice. i do however hope that the gent with the glasses is not the owner/producer of that twin rotor as this is the third photo ive seen of him from the vario fly in and all seem to show him next to it.
if he is the owner producer dont get your hopes up about it?

my dogs name is syndrome

Rodan, Thankfully the input from the gent next to the model (Niel Kay), has to my limited knowlege, only been technical
Dave sorry do not have last name, is owner and builder ( flew against him in last years LHC cup)
As I said in earlier post it is a prototype, and is suffering some major torque issues, but the run and test at the field was quite impressive, with that power unit it looks possible to scale up to 1/4 scale at least
Hopefully I will see Dave at this years LHC cup, so will press him further as to availability etc, as I have been interested in a turbine twin rotor for a while

Chinook Info for those interested......

Dave Nuthall has been working on this project for the last 2 - 3 years.

Uses Vario 3 blade heads - 2 bolt type and 1500mm dia rotors.

Head speed 1450rpm.

Also uses 3 servo ccpm at each end, all operated through an Hirobo Mixer / gyro unit.

The initial design was operated by belts and although the first test flights were very favourable, belt stretch soon put paid to a complete set of blades.

The drive train has now been changed over to shaft drive and the failure on Sunday was the input gear letting go in the drive from the turbine to the common drive shaft. Hopefully an easy fix.

Torque is the main issue. With the turbine providing as much as is needed, the power to drive the main rotor disks is very demanding.

R&D all the way but showing signs of promise.

Peter Rob, I've lost your e-mail address. If you can send it to me, I'll send you a copy of the first test flight.

hot topic here on 2 forums ?

wilerbee,It would take forever to write all the bad press about Niel Kay, suffice to say do a search on RR for post relating to NIEL2UK,unless Mark Ryder has deleted them, as This gent still owes him 6000.00 dollars
That is besides all the other folk he has ripped off
Now I have said this I will probabley get bad , threatening e-mails from ROB-builder (alias Niel Kay I think)
Stay well clear

Thanks Peter for the heads up. Didn't mean to get you into trouble though. I think you are doing us all modelers a great service by warning us of the bad apples ! Thanks again.
