Anyone have any ideas about why the price has dropped on the DM-8 modules? They are practically free with the price of the receiver factored in. (yes an exaggeration but you get the idea). Think I may need to get another for a cheap backup now.

Wow.....look like Spectrum did it again.

With this Really low price.....Look like all Futaba Module base Modeller.......will now shift to SPECTRUM.

Now, I will get another AR7000 with a Free DM8 Modules

Its Much Cheaper to buy this DM8 Modules.....than Buying a JR DSX 9.

That is one huge price drop, buy an AR7000 and almost get the transmit module free. They dropped the price of the 14MZ module with AR7000 as well.

Its like a cellphone Price war.....Some Cellphone Company, give away free Cellphone, the Cellphone Company want to sell more Talk Time.

Spektrum is giving away a Transmitter Modules, so that more Futaba Transmitter can now get Specktrum Receiver......and a average RC Modeller do not just own a Single Receiver....look like I have more than 10 Futaba Receiver.

Its a Brilliant Marketing Strategy.

What I would really like to know is why? Is it just overstock and slow summer sales? Is it because they want to dump them for a change in the case to move the antenna where it should be? Is it a sales/marketing choice to try and claim some more of Futaba's money (if I flew JR I would be pissed by this choice)? I expect it is either #1 or #2, but it would be nice to know. I sent an email to Horizon asking about this, but no response yet. If it is #2, then I asked about buying the empty case as a part for those of us with older modules (they will probably make us send them back instead ).

If the seller has any left, I just picked up one of the AR7000 kits with a make an offer on ebay for $100 with free shipping. That's about $20 for the TX module, or if you care to look at it a different way $50 each half.

Thought about it last night and decided I didn't need the 9 channel receiver, though it is a hard choice with these prices.

I got a reply from support... As far as the support team knows, there are no new versions coming. So either this is an overstock sale, marketing ploy, or discontinuation of the product. If Futaba had the new 10C with FM modules for sale, I would suspect marketing ploy. Since I read about more Futaba users with Spektrum modules than I do JR users with Spektrum module I expect it is a dog days of summer sale to get rid of overstock sale.

My local hobby shop owner contacted his Horizon Hobby sales rep regarding why, and was told that this price drop was simply a strategy to gain Spektrum market share of the current futaba 72mhz users. I think what he actually said was something like "we're sticking it to Futaba"

I bought two of the kits for my 8U and 9c.

At this price, it really does breathe new life into these transmitters with allowing the use of this revolutionary type technology.
