Okay, I tried my new Ion X2 for the first time today. First 2 flights, total of 5 minutes, okay. I put it on the bench to adjust blade tracking and the heli was off for 10 minutes.

When I connected it up again, it appeared I could not get it to bind; that is, I could not get the swash to move, nor did I hear the ESC initialize. Having used the DX 7 for some time, I moved the transmitter away from the heli and tried again several times and the same thing. I then investigated further and noticed that although the swash servos did not move, the tail rotor servo and gyro were working fine. Also upon close inspection, I notice that as I moved the cyclic stick, the swash would occasionaly twitch in the correct direction. Then, the blades starting turning, with the throttle hold on (throttle hold is programmed correctly and does work). That just should not have happened. (I was able to quickly disconnect the battery while holding the blades.)

I took off the canopy, letting it sit for maybe another 10 minutes, and all started to work again.

I am running the PowerJazz and a seperate BEC. (Everything is new.)

Now what do I do? Put in a new receiver?

I dare not try to fly it again. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Joe....

I almost want to say that your throttle trim or sub trim is too high.

I was thinking of something in that area, but no matter what may be off in the throttle channel, I would think the three swash servos should still work correctly after the receiver initializes.

I just have two questions. First, is the ESC actually initializing correctly? And second, Are your transmitter and receiver binding correctly? Once in a while my system does not bind and I have to unplug and start again.

As you may be aware, with the DX 7, if the transmitter is too close to the receiver, it may not bind. I thought this was the problem at first. But with the tx moved 20 feet from the recv, it still "appeared" not to bind. (To determine a bind, I listen for the ESC tones and look to see if the swash moves, neither of these were happeneing.) Then, after about 10 attempts, I did hear the ESC initialize, but still no swash movement; however, upon investigating further, I noticed I did have rudder control and the gyro was working. Upon investigating further, I saw that although I thought I had no swash control, it would ocassionaly twitch in the correct direction when I move the cyclic. Then, with the throttle hold on, the motor engaged. I let it sit for 5 minutes and all seemed fine again.

I'm sure this does not help. Everything was just goofy. I always think its a bad component, but most of the time it is not. Thanks, Joe...

I have had a brand new AR7000 that was bad. Horizon replaced it no problem.
