Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > Hawk loosing power when inverted

Hi to all:

My Hawkpro with header tank and a OS37 engine looses power when inverted, the engine doesn't stop, but it looses power... any ideas on what could be the reason?

Thanks!

David.

If a problem has a solution then why worry, and if it doesn't have any.... then why worry!

I am still kind of chasing this problem on my raven. Try bypassing your header tank and or run a uniflow setup. That seemed to help me out alot.

If you are running muffler pressure you may be getting fuel flowing back into the muffler when inverted.

Assuming the fuel system is good, it's been my experience the pitches are not equal, and the guages are not accurate enough to show the difference. So, what I do is tune the collective mechanically so the head speed is the same both sides up.

My first question would be where is the header tank located? It may be located as such as to go rich when inverted and cause a loss of power.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

I have read of heli's with header tanks going rich inverted
or leaning out
try moving your header tank to the front might help

My header tank is over the main tank, should it be at the same level as the carburetor?

sounds like

to me that you need to check your pitch and throttle curves in your diffrent stunt modes. Or the airflow isn't enough while at an inverted hover and is simply getting hot causing the power to drop, after rolling up-right or into fwd flight is the power regained? really it doesn't seem like a fuel problem unless it's set to rich to start with.

I really don't know if power is regained after rolling up-right... after crashing two times trying to do a loop (because of engine power) I'm trying to think on a way to know if I solved that issue without risking the heli again... any ideas?

Header tank is now level and I've checked all fuel lines.

As Andersons said - sounds like a pitch/throttle curve issue.

What are your pitch angles (not the percentages in the TX but the measured angles) at bottom stick, 1/4 stick, half stick, 3/4 stick and full stick in IDLE-UP.

What is your throttle barrel openings at those same stick positions?
