Hi Guys

Has anybody made any shroud mods to enable easy engine removal without having to strip heli down ?

Cheers

Removing the engine on this machine is a PIA, IMO. Not sure what kind of mod you could do?

Or you could do what I did, get a heli that is easier to work on.

I'd rather be flying

yeeaa,, I bought a diff heli whereby it's quicker to remove the engine than my Raven, but this heli has other issues my Raven doesn't have !!

so thats 1/4 of 7/8s of another thing,,

all helis have a issue of some sort,, and the 1 heli that doesn't have a mechanical issue cost to much, so indeed it has a price issue !! $950 for a JR Sylphide 50, nice heli but shoo

I usually only remove the landing gear bolts on the right side , the muffler and the right side lower sideframe plate - and slip it and the fan out the side.

My method of engine access deals with the removal of the four bolts that keep the upper frames onto the lower frames. Unscrew the left and right machine screws that hold the rear servo tray to the upper frames. Lift the entire upper frame off and Wholla!!! Easy access to the engine. No need to remove the landing gear

Old Fart has the idea

do the lower frames in halves after you remove the landing gear

I found it hard doing the way fernando says because of the intermediate gear not that it don't work I just find Old farts method easier
Still a PIA but it's quicker

JM2C's :)

I fly a Hawk Sport so it may be differant. I dont like to remove the muffler, it always cost me 1-2 glow plugs next few flights.........
I remove the servo tray assembly, its 6 screws/bolts and popping the control links, easy. That gives great clearance to the motor. I use a cut down version of an Allen wrench to remove the motor mount screws on the muffler side. Takes mabey 10 mins to pull the motor, w/ the muffler attached. A breeze!
