On the freya EVO 90 can lower frames, be swaped out for cabor fibor, or do you have to use the plastic that comes with the kit? I am not if avail, and is there a mod that you have to do, when you do this.

X-Spec lowers are basically carbon fibre on a Freya, so yes, it can be done, but it's not terribly cheap . . .

So is the freya evo 90 a good heli out of the box? I wasn't sure what the differnce was between the freya 90 and the x-spec.

The X-Spec was a hot-rodded variant of the original Freya 90, with the carbon lowers, a metal head, and some other tuning parts. When the Evo 90 came out, it was not updated outright, but the surviving kits in stock were packed with the Evo 90 head, basically making it the same in that regard as the base Evo 90. The Evo 90 has slightly different uppers for the different pinion bearings, but they fit the lowers the same as the original Freya.

If you have an interest, you might want to see if Ron's still has any X-Spec kits in stock - they were selling them for $550 (down from about a grand in it's heyday) which would give you a bunch of spare parts along with the frames and necessary hardware for not a heck of a lot more than just buying the frame set . . .

All the Freya's are very good out of the box - the original, the X-Spec and the Evo . . .

And I just looked at the Ron Lund site, and as of about 30 seconds ago, the X-Spec is still showing as available for $550 . . .
