I seem to have some play in the swashplate between the upper section (part rotating) and the lower section (stationary part)
When i hold the elevator servo arm stiff for example, and move the paddle, i get some play that runs down through the linkages and stops by the time its hits the stationary swash part. Question is, how much is too much. I would estimate i can move the trailing edge of teh paddle about 0.050 to .100 of an inch with light force. Is this too much?

I assume you are referring to the Evo 50?

Most of the play on my machines comes from the mixing base/arms. The mixer amplifies the slight play in the swash.

With the SD-G metal mixer and Quick-UK swash I have about 1mm play at the paddle trailing edge.

With the stock plastic parts I have about 2mm of play.

2mm of play is pretty normal for the stock setup. Unless you go to the metal upgrades it is hard to get it tightened up much more.

Four strategically drilled and tapped holes will eliminate the issue.

Sorry, i didn't mention it, but yes, its an evo 50.
Okay, so some play is normal. I just had some blade flutter (due to something else) and now that i'm rebuilding i'm looking at everything and saying to myself "was that like that before"
So it sounds like the amount of play i have is normal, and possibly new mixing arms might help the situation, and possibly the setscrew mod (i'm kind of interested to try that by the way...
Thanks for the help guys.
