Someone gave me a new Toki40 to try out, well after looking at it and pulling my OS37 out it seems like i will need to trim some of the fan duck to "stuff" the motor in there. Before i go and start cutting away some of the air shroud, i was wondering if it was really worth it, i have a OS37 in it now.

The Toki is working fine in my R30V2 just cut down one fin on the engine this way if you don't like it you haven't modified your frame.

Just a little tip the needle settings are quit different than an OS37 read the instructions and it will run fine.

Also remove the two Philips head screws holding the carb and tap the holes to 4mm and use Allen cap screws with lock tight this wil ensure an air tight seal between the carb and engine. If you don't do this the screws are sure to come loose in flight.

I hope following the above brings you the same success I am having with my Toki 40

Likes to rev high I run mine at 2100 with a Revmax on a Kasama head.

Best of luck

Bob

Thank you for the heads up. I hate to cut the frame and i would hate to cut the top fin, but i think if i want to go this route i will have to. i would think there would be more people flying them.

I can second heli man bob's comment about the carb screws. Had the same thing happen. Just put a new toki in my R30 - V1. I've put RTV over the outside of the screw heads to keep mine from coming loose. Loctite here doesn't seem to work.

Also, this engine likes to rev - especially on the Toki pipe. Noticeably louder than my old OS .32!

I had to slot the frame for the engine mount, to allow the engine to move down about 1/8", otherwise the clutch would drag. I didn't have to trim the head, or the frame, other than the mounting holes.

The instructions I got have a typo (apparently) - the main needle setting is shown as "3/4 turns"; but an older copy says "3 and 3/4 turns". 4 1/4 is probably a good place to start out with a new engine.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups.
