| As far as paint goes - a simple rattle-can white like rustoleum or krylon will do as long as you clear it.
If you're burning nitro, your only choice is a 2-part clear. Nitro will eat any one-part clear
The obvious one is the automotive clearcoat - this stuff requires some fairly serious protective equipment that should always be used. If not, the isocyanates in the stuff will cause asthma, skin problems, and even cancer. The real joy is you don't have to inhale it - skin contact is enough. On the positive side, this stuff doesn't yellow, and generally has ultraviolet protection for any color underneath.
All things told, I'd the painted blades it to an auto shop, and ask them to clear the blades when they finish a car's paint job. Given the small size of the blades, they probably won't charge much if at all. Plus, they have the protective equipment to do it safely, and the experience to do a decent job.
One clear I've read about on RR (never tried) is Nelson's Hobby clear with a cross-linker (ie. a 2-part clear). This one is acrylic and water-based. You still need a respirator use it safely, but it's nothing like what you need with automotive clearcoat.
But why not just look for blades that are white to begin with? IIRC, SAB tail blades come in white...
