Ill stick with the crank lock too, it is the BEST option out.

Uh how much have you spent so far? Your going to complain about 20 more bucks? To get the job done without any issues? Seems like a no brainer to me.

did the oven trick but when I placed the refrigerated bearings into the engine the bearings both got stuck midway...I'll try the oven again.

When you say "refrigerated" bearings do you actually mean cooled from the fridge, or from a freezer?

I've always used the freezer to bring the bearings to the right temp. I've put the engine block in the oven for 10 mins at 300F (better yet just throw the block out into the Iraqi sun for 5 mins ) and the bearings in the freezer for the same time and they usually just drop right in. May depend on what the ambient air temp is though too? You may have to be quicker at putting the bearings in, or just leave the bearings in the freezer longer before putting the block in the oven?

You may have to experiment and try again like you're doing.

Let the bearings chill longer then the case in the oven. Once you tap the old bearings out. Put the case back in the oven for a few.
Sometimes you can bake cookies at the same time!
I have had good luck with this trick. I have all ceramic bearings in my Hypers.
A little trick is to use the crank shaft to "bump" the bearings home.

Don't sell your machine. The high prices of fuel is temporary...They'll come down...some...and it won't hurt your wallet as bad.

Be patient.
