OK guys, all my experience is with Miniature Aircraft stuff so I need just a bit of help with an engine change. Bottom line is that I can't get the 3 stacked bearings off the top of the clutch shaft. I pulled the engine out and all 3 bearings came with the shaft.

This machine was bought used and clearly has very little time on it. I don't know if any liquid bearing locker was used when the clutch shaft was inserted through the bearings.

The only thing I have tried thus far is heating the bearing stock with a Monokote heat gun. My thought was that it "might" break loose any Loctite connection if one does exist. I lightly tapped on the top of the shaft with a plastic mallet but nothing doing.

Any suggestions?

Grab ahold of the clutch bell and tap the clutch shaft out with a brass hammer or use the plastic end of an screwdriver.

Some people do locktite those bearings on but the manual actually says to use some grease (molebdenum??? not sure how to spell it) But i would have expected heat to lossen them. As for the shaft, it should just fall through the bell, but sometime the little burr left behind from the grub screw can hinder this. Just smooth it over with a file and it should come out.
I think you might need to try the heat again on the bearings and maybe a little more force is needed???
Hope that helps.

1. Bearing puller or failing that
2. cut a slot out of a piece of aluminium and put it behind the last bearing....heat the bearings.....tap the clutch shaft out with a brass/plastic mallet

I would be one of those whose loctites the assembly, having seen the terrible things that the upper most radial bearing does to the clutch shaft over time when allowed to spin on the shaft. Use some judicious heat and a small gear puller. Put the jaw around the bearings on top of the pinion. Drawing them up will pop the one on which the clutch shaft rides.

Thanks for the tips Ben. That is pretty much what it took. A bit of heat and some creativity with a gear puller and off it came. I too may use a bit of Loctite to secure the top bearing. It doesn't appear to be held in place by the plastic frames all that well. This is my first experience with Hirobo and honestly looking forward to flying it!
