Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Size Comparison

No this isn't one of those "Mine is soooo big.." threads.

I met a friend of mine at the hobby shop yesterday who's building a 700. We took a few pictures, and had a weigh off. We're both running 8717's, YS, Hatori, FP4340 Lipos. He's using the 7100 rx, and I'm using the 9000 with a revmax and spektrum step down. Both using Radix standard blades. 710's on his, 690's on mine. The other pictures I've seen online have made the 700 appear much smaller, but it's pretty close. Approx. 3/8 - 1/2" shorter from main shaft to tail shaft and a slightly shorter but much wider canopy. Last night the Aurora came in at 9.9lbs, and the 700 at 9.8lbs. The 700 hasn't flown. He's getting married today, and will be gone for the next week so I can't compare flight qualities.

The 700 isn't as stout as the Aurora, but a MUCH easier build. We sat down at 6 with the kit, and by 9 we had eaten a pizza and had the heli completely built less electronics!

I see what you're saying about the height and length comparison but from those pics it still seems like the aurora is much bigger. maybe its just because the trex canopy is a lot smaller. either way, nice helis

its the canopy. and the skids on the Avant sit a bit higher as well. but both about the same size. I have seen them next to each other and you cant even tell. all but the canopy. Good pics

I've had Align's for a long time and if the 700 is going to be like all the other align's it will be top.... I've seen my buddy's Aurora up close.. It is a P.O.S...... Align has it hands down......

OK well now that I got that out of the way... I'm glad I could keep a strait face while I typed that. If the 700 is anything like the rest of the Align's quality... I will fail in comparison to the Aurora... I'll be getting one at some point... Align's.. Ya their cheep and replacement cost's are cheeper... but so is the Quality... Too much slop in it. Aurora all the way from what I've seen...

I took Dougs picture, and took it just one step further, applied some photoshop.
I retained all original sizes and proportions, lined up the 2 main shafts.

There should be no argument about perspective in this one.

Yep. In the air I should imagine that it looks like a 50 with a long boom.

This might give you an idea Apparently the 600n canopy fits the 700n with no modifications.

Thats awesome! theres heaps of really nice 600N canopies out there and for those that don't like their 700N canopy shape they can just slap on a 600N one
