I'd be on board if you didn't use wood.

For double the cost, still only $13, you could get the heavy duty Mavverick's. They are a bit wider than stock and a lot stronger.

but it will break your frames instead
.

Yes, you are right. I can see the possibility of breaking the frames. I am now thinking of replacing the wood with a thinner one. So on hard impact, the wood is guaranteed to be broken first (the metal L-brackets are almost unbreakable ) rather than the frame.

That is not true. You need to spend $13 for every broken Mavvrick strut. Sometimes, you will be lucky to have one strut survived the crash. A long piece of wood costs only $1.50, and I can make 5 struts out of it. For $13, you can have 40 wooden struts!!

Can I get a set in Teak, I like the smell. Don't forget to seal the wood...fuel will ruin the craftsmanship

If it's gonna happen it'll happen up there!

Regular cheap airplane aluminum gear work best and you can bend them back after a crash and less chance of breaking the frames. captb

Check mine out !

The harder you fall, the higher you bounce...just like a yo-yo...LOL
I made them and after a few variations... the landing gear turned out to be better than any of my expectations, because of the bounce properties that I did not account for.
I Have saved my self lots of $$ by avoiding hard and costly landings...you just bounce back in the air !!!!

Thanks,

You guys should work for Boeing or Bell Aircraft etc...
I'm still trying to attach four POGO sticks under my heli.
Maybe if I mount them inverted I'll only need two?

If you are crashing that much then maybe you need training skids

Also, $13.00 added to a crash bill is nothing and that's even if you break the skids. The skids can survive a crash.

Training skids are of no use to me anymore as I am learning flying upside down.
