After breaking the Hirobo metal struts, I decide to home make one myself. The only part that I reuse from the Hirobo metal struts are the four little pieces of metal that bind the skids to the struts.
The L-brackets are very sturdy and the whole structure seems even stronger than the Hirobo metal one. All the parts cost me $6.70.

The struts may have broken, but the model's frames likely did not. What you have on there now may survive a mishap, but it will break your frames instead. The white plastic Freya struts will fit the smaller models and are as tough as they should be.

consider flat stock aluminum next time.
you can give it a radius bend giving it a little spring action to save frame from a hard landing.

Pete, His RR name is xgear, but he hasn't been on for awhile, probably cause he was getting pinked for discussing his product. He is very nice to work with and probably design or give you any info you would like.
