I finally took a shot at editing some video recorded almost two years ago of my functional Hughes 300.

It's in the air for much longer than I ever thought possible and risked running it dry. Good thing I didn't as it could have fallen like the proverbial brick from quite high up.

It is currently on the bench getting some much needed repairs and partial restoration for this IRCHA.

Ah HA! I finally figured out the video formatting process to let the Youtube player appear on the page! Thanks "DOOD" and you didn't even respond to this video

Thanks for the video! I have had the " Dubro Shark" version of this heli since the mid 70's and start it up a couple of times a year to keep the engine from locking up, but haven't flown it for quite a while. Your video makes me want to get it in the air again.

Where are you getting your blades? Mine are badly warped and just getting to old to trust any more. I have been trying to find something suitable but having absolutely no luck.

Hi D.W.,

My blades are original. They're slightly warped up, as if they're permanently coned.

If your blades aren't physically damaged in some way, you can try bracing them at the ends and adding weight in the center to reverse the bowing, add some extra heat to speed up the process. If covered with Monokote or some material other than paint, try stripping the wood and using steam to help persuade the blades straight.

Will you be coming to IRCHA this year? Bring that Shark along with you. It will be a welcome addition to the vintage gathering of heli's there. My Hughes was going to go but as the result of damage while painting the frame structure, I may not have time to fix it properly.
