Hey,

I'm researching micro helis in preparation for getting one this fall. I'm trying to decide between the piccolo or hornet. If you have any other suggestions for heli's i'm open to them as long as they're collective pitch. I like the hornet because it uses a shaft drive for the tail rotor like a larger scale heli. I have chosen these two because they both come with a collective pitch option.

I'm wondering what size battery cells do they use? Also would i need a computerized radio like one of the lower Futaba 9 series if i were to run brushless? Eventually i want to get into larger scale electric helis and someone suggested a 9 series radio. I should probably get it now anyway.

I can't think of any more questions right now

thanks,
Keith

Are you new to this hobby?
If yes, skip the micro and get a larger one first. Because a larger heli is a more stable platform for learning.

I think the Piccolo Pro and Hornet CP have good and bad points.
If you like a packaged deal, Piccolo Pro will be good.
If you like to mix and match, Hornet CP will be good.

Hello yf22k, I at one time thought about the same thing and got a hornet after about 6 months of flying my Raptor. I will tell you that the bigger the heli is the easier it is to learn on. The little helis like to be extremely touchy in the air and act horribly in ground effect because they are fixed pitch. I have a hornet and you will notice that in my signature I am selling it, so if you want to get a lil heli first pm me and we can talk. But I would not recommend starting with a little electric heli, they can be a real pain in the butt. Not saying I don't like the little things, I just have more fun working on it and sceming how to make it smaller than flying it sometimes. Hope that helps.

Hmmm yeah i've been hearing that smaller helis are very nimble and are hard to conrol for a newbie like me. I dont' have a lot of room to fly my heli that's why i'm thinking small. If i do get a larger heli i'll probably get the logo 10.

Or an ECO-8 is a good compromise between the larger .30 size and the micros.

hmm i haven't thought much about the eco 8. I heard the logo 10 is really good though. Do you have an eco 8? How long is it? and what is your recommended setup.

thanks,
Keith

Yeah i've heard about that too but it seems hard to get in the US right now. Maybe if parts availablility is better by the fall i will consider it.

thanks
